Have you had a credit card before ? I mean as a principal credit card holder. Not having a previous credit card can be the reason why they rejected you. It's just HSBC and they are being cautious. Why not try Citibank or Standard Chartered ? But if you have no previous credit card, then Citibank is going to reject you too. Citibank has this new law of not approving any fresh credit card application from anyone who has no previous credit card.

this is actually my first application. I guess this is the main reason as well. Now I'm planning to get Maybank (Amex + Master/Visa) card. But not sure if its the right decision.

hi guys,

I have a standing car hire purchase with Hong Leong. On the site, it says i can file an standing monthly payment of the hire purchase to my credit card.

Would there be any charges? Would this charge for the monthly installment be eligible for cash rebate/points?

need some opinion/feedback of this scenario is possible:

1. i have a ambank carz gold visa card with two active EPP.
2. plan to upgrade to plat/ get a better card type with the same bank (ambank)
3. transfer the two active EPP to new card
4. cancel the old card

notworthy.gif

p.s. visited the branch but the CS seems to be in doubt and ask me to request the application first and see what the card dept says. doh.gif got the call from card dept, and they ask me to apply for the new card 1st (upgrade not possible due to the plat card is mastercard) then only call CS to ask for the transfer of EPP. sweat.gif

anyone successfully did the above?

update:
managed to called ambank CS just now. according to them, if EPP outstanding balance >1k then can apply to transfer the EPP to new card. if balance less <1k then cannot transfer.
so you got 2 options. 1)keep the old card and cont paying the EPP till finish, then cancel the old card 2)settle the outstanding EPP balance, then cancel the card sweat.gif

For MBB, I can cancel my card (no more fee or GST) , but the account is still valid. I've to keep paying for the EPP every month.
For MBB, they say can't transfer the EPP from my ex-Visa to the new-Visa. I asked at MBB 1U Card Centre, and 2-3 of their CS verify in the system (they very free that time).

You may want to verify again with Ambank.

36 months!! By that time already got 2 newer products and the guy still paying for his obsolete gadget, haha

And if use MBB 2 AMEX at Harvey Norman up to 12 months installment plan still can earn equivalent 2.5% with Treats Points (e.g. RM1000K = RM25) plus up to RM50 cash back on Saturdays or Sundays for single swipe instead of RM10 or RM15 cash voucher with AmBank CC.

wanna ask you guys about your experience with Hong leong bank call center.

i had 2 bad experince.
1st time: i called to ask about 1% cash rebate on Essential. that lady confused me with Fortune card.

2nd time: just recently, i caledl to ask the max. credit can be utilised for BT. i even gave her the scenerio where the card is having 100% unutilised credit, no outstanding balance or any transaction. The reply from her is " Sir, i'll have to check with my superior and get back to you.
Me:" how long does it take?"
she: " i'm not very sure, but it will take at least 2~3 working days".
i was speechless.... she can't even answer a very basic question..

maybe mine is just isolated case, what about you guys?

Go add on to the complain in the Hong Leong CC thread...

I would like to ask your opinion on the option below.

My friend has a credit card debts amounting to RM10k. However, recently his company paid bonus to him around RM13k.

So he is in dilemma should he:

a. Pay lumpump the credit card debts; or

b. Get an ASB certificate for RM10k and apply overdraft, the money can use to pay the interest and invest in stock market actively.

My advise to him is to pay lumpusum the credit card debts

For certain banks, you can pay extra to get increased limit. Check with your bank whether this can be done and if there are any charges for doing so.
