some bad experience with HLB to be share with others....

recently, i browse through online for Malaysia Apple Store and made some online transaction in RM4398 (invoice also in RM4398 but address is in Singapore) and paid by using HLB mastercard. However, when i got the statement HLB charged me xtra 0.8% = RM35.18 for performing an oversea online transaction.

FYI, within 2 months time, i did also perform the exact same transaction with the same amount but paid with different card from OCBC, Alliance Bank, UOB and MBB and these banks didn't charge me any xtra charges.

i did call to HLB and explain that i paid in RM during online, the invoice i got also in RM and they shouldn't charge me xtra for that...anyhow, they said this is their bank policy and nothing that they can do....

so, guys. please becareful when performing online transaction and choose the right card when making your payment...

Evn CIMB also charge Cross-Border charge for using thier CC at Apple Store.
Blame Apple Store Malaysia !!!

When we will receive first statement after we get the card?
*
Call the bank and ask for the statement date.
The printed statement would arrived approx 1 week later

I dont know is it correct to ask here, but how does the cash rebate of CC works?

Okay, let say i pump Rm100 petrol, rebate of my CC is 5%. So it means i only pay RM95 or i pay RM100 but i can get RM5 cash back?
And if so, how do i get the RM5? in cash or transfer to my account?

Thank you
*
You will still be charged RM100 for petrol.
The RM5 will be creditted back into your Credit Card account (depends on individual bank, you will get the Cash-Back either end of the month, on Statement Date, or accumulated to RMxx)

If my payment due date is 21st and I make payment (via Interbank Giro) on 20th morning (before the cut off period), does it still consider as payment made on time?
*
Logically yes.... the payment consider made on 20th.
Again, there could be 1-2 day delay ... there's a fe wdays after Due Date before Finance charges is calculated.

CIMB Direct Access is special division (since Southern Bank Berhad).
Naturally, CIMB will want to focus on strengthen the CIMB brand, rather having 2 divisions....

Have a question regarding vouchers redeemed from Maybank, particularly Harvey Norman's. I don't have the vouchers in hand so I have no idea on the T&C.
Is the following scenario doable? Perhaps you've tried doing something like this, but at a different merchant?
Note: 9700 Treatpoints = 1x RM50 Harvey Norman voucher
*
Definitely DO-able.
Harvey Norman Voucher via MBB TP redemption is on-the-spot redemption and directly use.

Sorry if I missed this if it has been discussed before but I hope someone can please comment or help answer or point me to the post that has had discussed this.

Background info: Got a new UOB credit card in the post. Didn't ask for a new card and my existing account will only expire/to be renewed in June 2012.

Process: Had to call the service center to have it activated. Done.

Issue: Was told that the new T&C for the annual fees to be waived are to
1. use the card AT LEAST once in each calendar month
2. total annual card transaction MUST be AT LEAST RM36,000.00

Questions: Has anyone been informed of this new T&C as well? Is this a UOB only thing or other CC companies have imposed this as well.

Thanks
*
Don't like it, cut if off and tell them the reason is Crazy waiver conditions

genting customer service is always... sweat.gif

that's why i wanna know whether can it tell from the transaction slip whether it's advance or retail...then i follow up with the bank
*
I believe it's based on Merchant Category Code of the EDC terminal which your card was swipe on.
Did you see the cashier swipe your credit card ? Did he do a retry on different EDC terminal ?

Years ago I did a Cash Advance...I remember on the slip would state "Cash" or something similar...the slip I have now is "Credit Sales"...which I presume = Retail
*
Do you have an invoice of the payment description (itemised) from Genting ?
This invoice would have the date/time, payment method (i.e. CC number) and approval code, which can be use to dispute the charge as Cash Advance.
BTw, which credit card did you use ?

The bill/invoice I've thrown, but I still have the credit card printout slip which has all the approval code, amount, date etc

I'm using UOB ONE card. Who in right mind would think about the posting date? If u state "From 27th March 2012 onwards...", any layman also would take it that if u swipe on 26th it would be ok

Their merchant bank is Maybank
*
The bill would show the item description to "dispute" your case.
Where did you see the 27th March 2012 onwards message ?

IF they based on Posting Date..... then really sorry for your case. Maybe your "winnings" in Genting could cover the fees ?
UOB is very calculative bank...

I believe it's the cashier mistake in using the wrong terminal to swipe your UOB ONE card.

I remember at one time in the MBB2Amex thread people were talking about taking advantage of the MBB2AMEX rebate with the Genting Premium Program for freebies. Maybe those who took advantage of this could share their experience whether the transaction is cash advance or retail.
*
Before 27th March 2012, consider as Retail Transaction.
After 27th March 2012, consider as Cash Advance.

Problem is KittyZhang swipe on 26th March... So it was a 50/50 chance going either way.
