talk about tethering , 1st Gen WP7 has waited almost 1year to get tethering function. 2nd Gen WP7 Lumia Nokia still disabling the tethering??

Nokia purposely disabled it. Supposedly many carriers requested.
But doesn't make sense why the Lumia 900 has it.

Nokia said they will add it via a software update sometime early this year.

After all, Lumia 800 is obviously rushed fairly quickly to the market, since it has battery issues and lousy camera rendering ( for the hardware it has ). I think Wifi Sharing was probably also not properly adjusted yet on their side, so they disabled it.

like i said you might disappointed on some feature, but just put asides those ringtone stuffs. give yourself sometimes after 1 or 2weeks you will love your lumia more than yourself..

transfering feature on wp7 is limited, you must use zune , you cant transfer file through bluetooth. but you can upload all files to skydrive with 25GB storage.

As a MBP user, I don't use Zune. WP7 is smart enough to transfer my music from iTunes.

are you sure cannot custom ringtone?

Not Nokia, more like Microsoft since Windows Phone OS is by Microsoft.
Follow blindly too much footsteps of Apple's iOS; not sure why they didn't add this, but if there's no any special concerns, they should be able to add this feature in "someday".

Microsoft obviously wants to sell to us their 'complete suite of M$ services', that's why to use WP, we must use Zune, Bing, Windows Live, etc.

It's part of their marketing, except that they suck at selling the whole package compared to Google, who are expert at combining their complete set of services. ( Docs, Gmail, G+, etc)

If the Apollo leak is to be believed though, seems like Microsoft is stepping back in trying to shove some things down our throat, and we won't be forced to use Zune for syncing in the new update.
