If you guys would rate below activities, which of these consume more battery power?

1. Gaming
2. Playing movie or
3. Having wifi on and surfing net

Also, I can't seems to load youtube video on ipad..why ah?

i think is surfing net is consumer more power... either gaming or that...depend the app's power management and CPU management

In sleep mode do you guys off the wifi + 3g? Is there big difference if leaving it off and on when necessary?

Those HD graphic games will consume more battery,

If you cant load video on ipad in safari is normal, if you cant load video on ipad's youtube app, there might be a problem with your line.

At home usually i off my 3G and leave the wifi on, when i'm outside i off my wifi and 3G on.

TS, for the Official Mac Retailer in the first post, actually Melaka do have Mac City @ Hatten Square. You can update it if you want. I got my iPad 2 there..

my ipad drains about 5% during standby mode while i sleep..(10 hours sleep) is that normal?

will closing apps in background by pressing the home button twice and exiting all the background application helps to extend the battery life in standby mode? cause all the games that i've been playing are all running in the background.

im just buying Ipad 2 wifi + 3g

my prob is I cannot use App Store and iTunes if im connecting with wifi..
I can use the App Store when disable my wifi and just using 3g..
Im using my uni wifi right now.. Not sure if the my uni block of using App Store address..

Also there's a file size limit on apps that you can download through 3G... i think 20MB?

Well arranged shop at nice location, but the workers there are far behind compare to the real apple employee when i was in europe/Aus.
Last weeks i was there to have a look on 27" iMac. When i was trying out the 27" iMac (Actually their demo is old model), the fella came and asked me, 'Do you know how to to use ar? U got Apple product before onot?' I was like errrr..wtf? Sounds not comfortable.

Was having some probklem updating my ipad 2 to iOS5 : Error message was :

The iPad could not be updated. This device isn't eligible for the requested build" on OSX.

here was the fix: Need to edit the host file

On finder under the go menu select go to folder and type /etc/ then look for hosts right click to open with text edit and this is what you should see.

Just delete the entry (74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com) this which comes after localhost

if you're having trouble editing the hosts file, make a copy on your desktop then edit and save and replace the one from the /etc/ folder. Or rename original host file and copy the revised host file over

What's the difference buying through Apple Online Store and getting it directly at local Apple Resellers?

If you buy from the local shops, you can ask for some free gifts. Buying online is convenient for those who stay at places that do not have Apple resellers. Delivery is fast. I bought ipad 2 for my friend ( took about 6 days to receive) and recently I bought a MBA 13.3" ( took about 8 days ). I'd think that getting online you will get the newer batches

yes. if wan engrave just buy through online. people want firmware 4.3.3 because can easily jailbreak. but i think edi got IOS 5. no need to jailbreak.

Succesfully updated me n my gf iPad's to iOS 5..it's awesome

I think among Apple devices running IOS , the biggest beneficiary from the upgrade to IOS 5 is the IPAD . In IOS 5 now you get:
Notification bar(on all IOS devices) , then the split keyboard and docking(Ipad), five finger swipe upward and inward(ipad) , camera icon on lock screen(iphone) , Safari reader( all ios devices), revamped music interface(ipad). Other things either i dont know or i dont use. but if you want to update only 1 device to iOS 5 at a time , definitely update the ipad first , then iphone , then ipod touch.

thanks for the advice. I had updated to iOS 5 already. one thing i found out after updating it is the camera is obviously clearer!

Hmm, there is no weather app for the notifications for iOS 5 iPad 2. Any of you managed to work your way around that problem?
Could there be third party apps which can do the trick?

iOS5's split keyboard's keys are too darn small for my thumbs. Better stick with normal keyboard in portrait mode.

No obvious lags compared to 435. Can't enable camera button @ lock screen. I guess it's only for iPhone? Nothing much to shout about. If you chat a lot, upgrade now to remove the annoying pops up notifications.

Via cable from what source? If from camera you can get yourself a camera connection kit which cost about rm89 and it comes with 2 connector which one is for sd card and another is a USB direct connector from your camera. If you're transferring from a PC, iTunes works well with the transferring.

Hi, I tried to get a subscription through Zinio but it rejected the payment. I could download apps using the same payment info though. It's only US$3.99 at least but what should I do? I was going to wait until it shows up in my CC statement, call CC tomorrow.

Update - iTunes store email came, was charged. Contacting Zinio now. Will it happen every time I try sub?

You can only send messages to another iMessage user. iPad CAN'T send SMS.

My 3g ipad2 is not displaying the 3g signal. The No Service message is displayed instead. I cleaned the sim card but still not successful. Does anybody know the cause of the problem ? My iphone also on the same carrier is working fine. So it is not a network problem on the ISP side.

iOS4 or iOS5?

I remember the first time I put in a 3G sim card into my iOS4.3.5, it can't get connected to mobile data. Added the name Celcom3G into the APN, it finally works. But from time to time (seldom), I had to reboot the pad to get connected again into mobile data again.

While on iOS5, it works immediately when I had the sim put into another ipad2 with iOS5.

I thot I read somewhere u can do it thru viber. Unless u meant specifically SMS to normal non smartphone.

I'm updating ios5 now, anyone had problem updating thru iTunes?

SMS in this context would mean the ordinary telco/carrier's kind of Short Messaging System service.

If you are referring to Viber, which requires user to authenticate themselves to Viber server, it's practically the same thing like iMessage, except iMessage has smaller group of people, which restricted to iOS5 users only, while Viber is cross platform.

Don't get me started with WhatsApp next. Unfortunately, there's no way to get WhatsApp working on a non-JB iPad. Even Viber was running on the phone app for iPad.

Nope. I managed to find a solution to that issue. An app was trying to update itself but connection was lost before it was completed. What i did is to resume the update and it works.

Another thing. Is there a way to turn off USB charging? Every time i connect my ipad to my laptop the battery status is "Not Charging" but in fact, it is charging.

For Hotlink, do you have to activate the daily data before you can use the data services?

If that's the case, you can't active from iPad as it has no dial pad. You will need to put the sim card into a phone to activate it. Not sure if you can do it from the website.

My friend's iPad went kaput and she took it back to epicenter at pavilion. They told her that after warranty period is over, they won't repair it even if she is willing to pay for any repairs

I think it's a mistake but how true is it? According to epicenter - no warranty no repairs

i just checked with Machines and VD, they said no problem, bring it in even warranty is over. They will just charge us accordingly for the repairs

I just experimented with it. I think you have to click "Sync" from your iPad to start the synchro over wifi.

I'll try again tomorrow and enable the other 4 units to sync over wifi.

Your AP got any Isolation mode enabled? Hope you are doing it over your own wifi network instead of public/office wifi setup.
