Was having some probklem updating my ipad 2 to iOS5 : Error message was :

The iPad could not be updated. This device isn't eligible for the requested build" on OSX.

here was the fix: Need to edit the host file

On finder under the go menu select go to folder and type /etc/ then look for hosts right click to open with text edit and this is what you should see.

Just delete the entry (74.208.10.249 gs.apple.com) this which comes after localhost

if you're having trouble editing the hosts file, make a copy on your desktop then edit and save and replace the one from the /etc/ folder. Or rename original host file and copy the revised host file over

If you buy from the local shops, you can ask for some free gifts. Buying online is convenient for those who stay at places that do not have Apple resellers. Delivery is fast. I bought ipad 2 for my friend ( took about 6 days to receive) and recently I bought a MBA 13.3" ( took about 8 days ). I'd think that getting online you will get the newer batches

It is obviously a used set and being sealed back. A brand new unused ipad when you switch on will prompt you to connect to PC to activate it
You should take it back to the shop and demand at least some discount or replacement
And can you tell us which " authorized dealer" is this

I hope the ipad 3 will have improved youtube viewing. The ipad n ipad 2 still loses out terribly to the android tablets in this. Safari browser n email also loses out to android tablets but not so serious as youtube

You can use same apps up to 5 devices as long all using same apple id

No need receipt. Just sent in service center and by keying in the serial number your warranty status will be shown

Apple to replace those who have bought new ipad with ipad4 if purchased make within last 30 days
Don't think is applicable here as by the time is launch here the 30 days is already over

Get the lighting to vga adapter
Plug connector to ipad port . The adapter has 2 ports - one for one end of hdmi cable n another to charge unit using lighting connector cable

Not advisable to buy 3rd party as specifically in 7.04 ( not earlier versions) the ipad will warn you about incompatible cable n will not charge it. All my 2 3rd party cables bought for previous iphone/ipad is now useless. Such 3rd party stuffs will possibly provide you with jerky display n audio sync issues. Buy these cheap n faced the risk of dissapointment.

Exactly right. I have sent in my iMac n ipod for warranty claim about 4 years ago n in both ocassions need not show proof of purchase. The service center identify your warranty through unit serial number.
