To all Maybankard holders out there, Maybank just adopted a new policy regarding online transaction today. Starting today, you will need to call Maybank before making any online transaction using your AMEX so that they can open the line for you or else, your card will not go through. Just happened to me. Not too sure about Maybankard VISA/MC though.

Today I received a plain courtesy call from MBB, asking about my MBB-2-Amex usage, the benefits (5x TP, 5% weekend, etc.), any comments, etc. The background noise sounds like call centre. They did not ask any of my details, except my name, Mr. <boboi>.

My card was just approved, after a few time i applied to be exact 4 times at different venue. Every time i applied will get rejected, then if i call ask them why not approved they just told me CS just can check approved or rejected for the reason i can email the CC department and ask them. After 4 times got rejected i email them asking what criteria i did not meet and i stated that i want to cancel my existing Maybank Petronas card and apply cashback card elsewhere if they dont approved my card. After that i receive a reply from them that they cannot reveal the reason, but they forward my email to other department to review. A few days letter they come back to me asking that either i agree to split my credit limit with the new M2Card. I agree with that and after 1 week i get my M2Card.
My question here, if i terminate my Petronas card would all my Treat Point will be transfer to M2Card. And do they increase my credit limit for new card since i cancel the old card. I would like to terminate due to the old card did not give much more benefit except 5x TP for petronas only. |

Not too sure about Maybankard VISA/MC though. For the past week, I have 2 unauthorised transactions charged to my AMEX card. One RM 827 from AirAsia that was posted when I checked M2U online transaction. The other one was alerted by the CS that one RM 31,000 online transaction from Netherlands was made. The second one was not posted. Immediately my card was suspended and was asked to collect the replacement card 2 days later. I was shocked as 31K is a very big amount, almost max out my CL. Been using credit cards for so many years and have yet to face such fraudulent transaction.I was asked to submit my dispute form for the first transaction only after I received the statement and that would only be at the end of this month. My question is would this be too late? |

There has got to me many people affected that they just have to take such a drastic measure to make us to call them before making any online transaction. I guess the fraud cases must be rampant, that's why Miles informed us that we have to call CS to perform online transactions. For me, it is not much of a problem calling the CS since I don't often transact online with my AMEX.I was asked to submit my dispute form for the first transaction only after I received the statement and that would only be at the end of this month. My question is would this be too late? |

to be frank, i am not surprised since it is almost an open secret that a majority of cardholders share the CID.. For the 13 numbers, the first 6-8 is already fixed. So very easy to clone the cards....

Someone could just take the name, card no, exp date and the CIV whn you pay for something and there you go, he/she could just shop with it. |

Feeling so vulnerable, I might as well cut down my CL since I don't need such an amount most of the time. If and when when I need a bigger limit would the CS entertain such request on an ad-hoc basis? |

Don't need to call them every time doing online transaction. |

This is what I was trying to point out in my other posts, what if our phone is switched off and the transaction was approved since we did not notify MBB that a fraud was in progress whereas MBB have notify us. |

I just sent a payment through Paypal using my MBB2 AMEX and the payment did indeed go through without me having to make a call to Maybank.

The system will most certainly end up as a best effort notification-only system. The T&C will be updated to disclaim liability for any delays or lack of notification for any reason. |

I think they should apply msos system like visa/master... |

OK, I tried buying AirAsia ticket on Thursday's midnight and AmEx didn't go through, in the end I used VISA. Though I lost out the 5xTP but I paid a much lower convenience fee.
Er, I forgot what the error says but is that something to do with this new enhancement? Since AirAsia is also online based. This post has been edited by fruitie: Dec 11 2011, 12:18 PM |
