Yeah a new thread where the post count is disabled is a great idea. Not too happy with all this spam as it inflates the post count, especially for those intentionally abusing it

Maybank also does issue "American Express" charge card with the trojan head logo. Your friend might be having that.

For Maybank 2 Amex card it will get Treats Points.
*
Even the gold and platinum credit cards are on Membership Rewards. As long as the AMEX card does not have a big MAYBANKARD on it, you earn Membership Rewards Points.

Hi bro erry,
Even though you have max out the RM50/month rebates, the 2.5% admin fee will also be weighed back by the 5x TP(~2.5%). In other words from the transaction above,

$23 = RM68.3675 + 2.5% (admin fee) =rm70.0766875
Rm70.0766875 - 2.5% (5X TP) = RM68.3675

hmm.gif

Correct me if I am wrong.  notworthy.gif
*
Actually the 5x takes into account the admin fee you already paid.

so $23 = RM68.375

+ 2.5% admin fee = RM70.0766875

- 5x TP (assume intrinsic value of 2.5%) = RM68.3247703125

However you need to note :
- you only gain the 2.5% if you redeem your treapoints at 0.5 sen to a treatpoint. There are redemptions that are more, there are redemptions that are less
- with the Amex admin charge, you are actually 'buying' your points at a discount... you save 0.05 sen in the transaction above (coz the value of the treatpoints you earned you have already paid for via the Amex admin charge) i.e. you get RM10 worth of points by paying RM9.95 upfront

is there any AMEX weekend rebate for paying hotel in Malaysia and overseas?
*
yes as long as the transaction date is a weekend. It is usually based on check out date (as that is when you make payment) Do note some hotels only process the day after check-out.

The same holds for prepaid rates.

Please learn to spend within your means. The RM50 does not even begin to cover interest if you start holding a balance

any of you guys get letter from your issuer tat they(the banks) will implement the 2 Cc per issuer and you are allow to only hold a total of 4 cards combined from 2 issuer?

it seems tat the Gov is implementing this move soon , and Amex will stand to gain the most from wat it is offering to its users now
*
I was under the impression it is 2 banks/issuer. No limit to cards.

Maybank stands to gain more since they made the M2 Cards attractive to mass market.

let me get it straighforward.
i have a fren work with bank. but i planning to apply at the 1-hour place, since want to get it soonest possible. will my fren be able to check my account later ( i prefer to ask him anything regarding my cc account later, some sort like consultant eh) even i didnt apply it at his branch?
about CS, i once called them . its like they know little, compared to the processing people/ those who works in bank.
*
This is conjecture on my part but I believe only Credit Card call centre + Maybankard centre staff can access detailed stuff about credit cards. Branch level can view maybe what cards you have etc. Your friend will also not get commission.

thx for the reply.
about the maybank centre, did u mean the Menara Maybank, or that particular centre the place where we register the CC.
Let say i want to go to bank (not phone-ing) to ask something/get clarification regarding my CC account, do i need to go to the place where i register only, or any bank can? icon_question.gif
*
Menara Maybank or 1U is the only walk-in card centres I am aware of. Even if you go to the bank branch, they cannot approve cards but only forward your application to the card centre for processing.

Note: Not even the frontline card centres above can approve cards. That is the processing department which customers have no contact with.

You can usually go to any bank branch (they will help you if they can) but usually they will ask you to call in to the Card Centre.

Branches can help with PIN resets. All other card related stuff (application, cancellation, credit limit etc.) they have a form for you to fill up which gets forwarded to the card centre anyway. Usually it is quicker to just call the card call centre.

Do Maybank credit card and Amex(Maybank)card provide SMS alert facilities?

Thank in advance.
*
I am guessing what you meant is that you want to receive an SMS whenever the card is used?

Not currently though I believe by law they have to implement it by 2015 i think (or was it 2012)...

Updated based on Gen-X's reply

thanks for the info.. will need to rethink since there is no free waiver for annual or GST..  sad.gif
*
there is NO annual fee for MBB2 cards and only RM50 GST for the companion Mastercard (GST for Amex is auto-waived). If RM50 a year is so difficult to cough up, please continue using cash or debit cards.
