if i charge my utility bills to the AMEX card will i get the 5X points and rebate?
*
2 things.
1) Provided the merchant accepts AmEx
2) Provided the merchant runs transactions during weekends (most of them don't)

If the merchant fulfills point 1 then you will get 5xTP, if fulfills both points you will get 5xTP and weekend cash rebate.

We should talk about this card less and then Maybank will then sponsor this section which what Citibank did.
At our rate, we doing free advertising for them and getting nothingĀ  blush.gif
*
If the case like this most of the threads in LYN are promoting some sorts of brands yet we get nothing. blush.gif

One thing I like about Maybank's TP is - evergreen!

Won't expire unless Maybank decides to revise its program... sweat.gif

Guys, this is my first time buying from overseas using my credit card. Before this Im using paypal but since AMEX have 5x treatpoint I want to try to use AMEX for overseas transaction.

If I want to buy something from overseas and payment is USD10.
Which conversion rate should I follow?
*
It will be charged straight to your card, you wouldn't know the exchange rate until it appears on your M2U.
Usually AmEx has higher exchange rate compared to VISA and MasterCard.

Other people can correct me, I might be wrong. I only used once to pay my Flickr account.

Thanks sis.

What if I link my AMEX to paypal. Is the transaction still get 5x treat points?
*
Oops, I missed out this point. I tried using AmEx and wanted to pay my Flickr Pro account using it and it was a hooha for me. sweat.gif In short, got charged few times but luckily got all the charges reversed. sweat.gif

In the end, I linked my AmEx to PayPal and paid the Flickr Pro account using PayPal. Hassle free. biggrin.gif
Yes, I got the 5xTP and I purposely waited till weekend to pay it and I got 5% off as well. biggrin.gif

Hi Fruittie,
How long does it take for the transaction to be reflected in your account for overseas transaction?
*
My transaction was on the 20th August but only shown on my account on 25th August.

fruitie, after u use ur amex on flickr, pls post it there so others can refer. thanks ~
*
Already went through in August, I'll post in the thread tonight. Thanks for informing. smile.gif

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Oct 12 2011, 02:33 PM)
Correct, exchange rate could be more than what you getting back..

But although u can link Amex to paypal but not all payee accept Amex.
I tried to use Amex to buy GSC tickets using the Paypal-Maxis but failed...Only accepts Visa/Master.

Others like iTunes accept Amex then it will work.
*
Malaysia Paypal that uses MYR will not be accepted.
So far I tried USD is obviously accepted, not sure about other currencies.

QUOTE(CP88 @ Oct 12 2011, 02:47 PM)
But I believe what fruitie mention the 5% rebates on weekends and 5X TP (~2.5%) will cushioned the conversion rates as well.  biggrin.gif.

Exchange rate that time will be 3.047. I don't understand this 2.5%, can explain? sweat.gif

QUOTE(WaCKy-Angel @ Oct 12 2011, 03:54 PM)
What u mean "malaysia paypal"? As in the merchant?
Im not sure how paypal deal with banks, but by right shouldnt have any problem at all because Paypal acts as a virtual bank so when buying things the merchant would only see paypal as the payment instead of your credit card.
In that case it defeat the purpose of using paypal at all!
*
Oops, I mean Malaysian merchant that accepts transactions in MYR. smile.gif

QUOTE(erry- @ Oct 12 2011, 04:14 PM)
thats mean the transaction on PayPal is charged on same day (20 August).

2 things about 2.5% here:

1. 5x TP is ± 2.5% cashback (if u take 10k tp to redeem rm50 gst or voucher)

2. 2.5% is also an additional amex fee.

example, on 20 august 2011 the rate for $1 is probably between rm2.97 to rm2.992 (source look between 18 august lowest to 25 august highest).

let say we take it as rm2.9725, if u convert $23, it should be rm68.3675, but with amex, need to + 2.5% so it will be rm70.0766875

urs being charged rm70.08 so it is ± within the range. coz we donno what is exactly rate use by maybank.

Hi all forumers in this thread,

Got a noob question would like to ask you guys

For this Maybankard 2 Gold card, is this means the owner is owning "2" cards?

what i want to say is, if the owner is having this Maybankard 2 Gold card and also another cc from other banks, does this mean the owner has to cancel either one credit card, since there is a new rule that annual income below rm36000 can only allowed to posses 2 credit cards at the same time
thanks
*
Yes, will be having 2 cards but considered as 1 type of card only.
So the rule doesn't apply to this.

That a big disadvantage considering utilities bill amount is quite substantial... I'm in dilemma in choosing whether this MBB2AMEX or OCBC Titanium since it can give 5% for utilities
*
Why don't take both? That's the best combination. biggrin.gif
OCBC Ti can use during weekdays and Maybankard 2 Cards can be used during weekends. biggrin.gif

I'm planning to get an OCBC Ti too to pair with my M2Gold Cards. biggrin.gif

My usage for Maybankard2Gold is considered very low because most of the time I swipe during weekdays.

Weekends? Most of the time I'm lazing at home. tongue.gif
