Of course I know lor...

I think you miss the previous posting.

Agito want to upgrade to FF, D800, but worry lens price, so maybe should get lens first.

As current, he's using D70 with 35mm f/1.8G.
Seems he doesn't need zoom lens, so I suppose the one prime lens is enough for him?

So, if he move on to D800, he was asking if he can use the 35mm f/1.8G DX.

Hence, if he upgrade to FF, he can sell off his 35mm f/1.8G DX, and get the 50mm f/1.8G, which is similar as 35mm on DX body.... plus, it's cheaper and offers more...
If you want 24-70, you'll be like paying for another D700.
I thought you use mostly the 35mm f/1.8G on your D70 now?
So, if you move to FF, you get the 50mm f/1.8G, is just like what you're using now, and it's not cheapo lens.
*
yes is not cheapo lens but once you buy it can tahan long long long long time XD
and i said 24-70 because i "heard" it is good XD...when times come and my saving is allow to "bleed all at once" then i will drag my friend go test first...wan see the bokeh XD...since last time he show me his normal zoom lens..i think is tamrom or sigma i forget... 24-70 f/2.8 one... he said zoom lens also can produce nice bokeh too.

50mm f/1.8? i can borrow friend's 50mm f/1.8D whistling.gif
but not so good la because i might borrow for few months till 1 year due to need re-saving money for next lens/ body. doh.gif

but then now all of these are dream talk for me XD
wait and see till year end then can save up how much money first tongue.gif

Depends if you really need zoom lens; Zoom lens good for versatality, but your max aperture only f/2.8.
You don't want to get Flash, and you shoot mostly toys, collections, etc? Maybe prime is enough and even better?
f/2.8 can produce nice bokeh, but with f/1.8 it's even more nice, plus the DOF...

50mm f/1.8G is sharp wide open, good quality and reasonably priced. Definitely worth getting.

Got some night session, low light, I use the 35mm wide open all the way for all the shots. Zoom is nice to have, but I want the large aperture in low light since I didn't use flash that time.

Errr... That's because Vivid does not do a single thing when you open your NEF under Lightroom. So whatever set is just placebo effect in your mind. It's the same effect like using Standard or Neutral picture style.
I think it all boils down to surface coating / treatment. Where I work in a different industry, we do a lot of surface treatment on metals that we consider company secret / proprietary information. So chances of getting more info is close to non existent.
There is a point of diminishing returns. More elements can give a lot of rise to flare.
Got... Lens mug.
The prices screams of pro price.

I rather have non pro price on a no pro or pro grade lens.  biggrin.gif
Very envious seeing SD cards selling much cheaper than CF.  cry.gif
Usually CF is faster. I think fastest SD is only 30MB/s.
Really? Can you share which website is this? I never knew serial numbers of lenses and camera bodies are embedded in the EXIF?
Then when you put the 50mm on a DX body, some people will find that it becomes too "long". There goes the money spent on the 50mm...
Good quality as using it on the same system? No idea but people are using Nikon's 14-24mm f/2.8 on their FF Canon bodies and getting better results than from their own Canon wide angle lenses. Does that not answer your question partially?  biggrin.gif

You can use Nikon lenses on Canon bodies. Not the other way around unfortunately since Canon have bigger mount.
The 24-70mm f/2.8 can be a little long on the D70s. Better test it out first before the 24-70mm f/2.8 becomes a white elephant investment.
The trend that I usually see is using Nikon wide angles on Canon FF bodies where you can afford to have manual focus only using hyperfocal technique. Metering works fine. On something like the 24-70mm, AF becomes more crucial.

Does it give as good quality as using it on the same system? Does that mean I can use canon 24-70 on a nikon since it is cheaper lol? But i guess it will look kinda weird tho... Haha sry for the noob question here...
*
I know there is convertor for Canon, but is there a convertor for Nikon to use Canon mount? Besides, you loose the AF capability and also adding up the cost of lens + convertor would be even more. Since you are already paying so much, why bother with a convertor? Not like Nikon doesn't have a 24-70.

QUOTE(ifer @ Oct 12 2011, 10:54 AM)
the mount is not cheap. plus, you lost autofocus. i don't see the trouble. unless is canon don't have type of lens. or nikon don't have type of lens. and you really need that lens to save your life. if not, don't bother lah. get the nikkor 24-70 lah. (besides, nikkor 24-70 is nicer)
*
Totally agree.

Under LR, I set Vivid as processing profile. It is very close to what Vivid shows on camera.

Zoom can produce bokeh is a ... "weird" statement.

70200 f/2.8 is a zoom lens, 200-400 f/4 is also a zoom lens. Do you think the bokeh is no good?

You can get very close to Vivid if you set processing profile as Vivid. There's Standard, Portrait, Landscape etc just like in the camera. Its close, but not exactly the same.

haha sorry my fault, i mean zoom-able lens can also produce creamy bokeh with some technique too, can on par with f/1.8 tongue.gif

that time i using D70s+ 35mm f/1.8 and he use D90 +18-55 f/2.8 tamtron (if not mistaken haha sweat.gif )

we that time shoot in same cosplayer then he told me this haha... that time i thought F number lower the better... Xd

What technique to make your zoom lens for bokeh? Shoot closer? Find far away background? Those aren't 'techniques' they are just knowledge you can use to your advantage.

Besides i think 70200 at 200mm f/2.8 does better bokeh than 50mm at f/1.8 ._.

You need to understand, aperture is not the only thing affecting bokeh. Focal length does as well, same goes to your distance to your focus point and also the background distance to your focus point.

The more elements, the more image quality degrade. So remove the UV filter.

I will put the ND on then the CPL since you need to turn the CPL for best effect.

Wondering if anyone here is into macro photogragphy?

I'm thinking of getting an SB-29s ,macro ring flash for this use, and impossible to find even used.......anyone know if some pros selling of their old gear?......

I know the latest macro by Nikon is the R1C1, but i can't justify 2.5k for a macro flash, especially for someone who is doing this just for hobby/ part-time work......

You should only take Shashinki's price as reference for market price. Hence, you should be able to get better street price than Shashinki's.

Yeah, that's the one I'm mentioning about and I got two of them. I bought mine cheaper than the thread you showed. I also saw SriComp selling the 16GB at RM165 at Low Yat Plaza.

I just get a Lexar Platinum II 16GB Class 10 (100x/15Mb/s) for RM126! Is it a good buy?

Is the Class 10 important or the 110x /15Mb/s important! I saw some memory card i.e Sandis Extreme HD Class 6 (133x/20Mb/s)

used to own this lens and i am quite happy with the results...

i nv tried the nikkor 12-24 b4 but this is a cheaper lens which suits my need.... distortion is minimal...

UWA lens produces photo of different (wider) perspective... makes ur foreground look bigger... different effect from a standard prime lens...

only downside is the zoom range is very limited and is to me a dedicated UWA lens...

Thanks a lot

tokina 116 is non motor lens. u must do manual focus on D5100

Yea. I realized that also. If I'm the only one using the camera, I'm fine with getting the tokina 11-16. But I'm sharing the camera with my sister. @_@ I can manual focus, but not sure my sister can use it or not. I heard it's not hard doing manual focus with UWA lens. Is that true? Or should I just invest on Sigma 10-20 / Nikkor 10-24 instead?

Help! My D3100's mirror is jammed in the down position. I can take a photo but what i've got is a blank image since the mirror is not flipping up.

This is not mirror-lock up!

Any ideas about why is this happening?

im using my sb700 as my macro flash...
advantage = save money
disadvantage = front heavy and shadow under the insect...

this was my old setup (d40 + sp90 + di622):

my new setup still looks like that (d7k + sp90 + sb700), and i jz DIY a new softbox diffuser...

Check this link.

Seems like some people have the same issue with D3100/D40/D40x. I'd personally suggest sending it back to Nikon for repair, as I guess your warranty should still hold.

Otherwise, if you're feeling a bit daring lately, you can still try to fix it yourself. Or just send it back to Nikon and pay for the repair cost? (if your warranty expired)
