I think the Nanocoat is purely marketing strategies, I believe there are so much more features to look into (newer) pro grade lenses, e.g. amount of glass elements, etc. These lenses no doubt will give extraordinary color renditions, bokeh rendition, sharpness, etc when used correctly. So called "premium" image quality of what you have paid for to give you the satisfaction in the outcome.

DISCLAIMER: This doesn't mean cheaper glass sucks. Just more satisfaction from more expensive glasses.

I went to that website. But did not find any information regarding how to identify a stolen unit. Sorry Im very new to these stuffs... can any1 roughly guide me through this? Any help will be very much appreciated..

well, u obviously cannot tell if a unit is stolen unless someone has reported the serial as stolen...and i dont know of any database existing for that.
but if ur lens is stolen, there are search sites that can trawl thru the exif data of phots online and see which pics contain ur lens serial number.
imo, best option is to ask nikon malaysia and pass them the serial number and see if they have any had reported cases matching the serial.

I happened to found a website where ppl report stolen gear serial numbers. I found only 2 serial number for 17-55. Im sure there are more stolen units but not reported haha!
Lol if the serial number of the 1 I bought match a stolen unit then what happen? Since i am going to buy it second hand, there will be no concrete evidence saying that i bought it from some1.

why no concrete evidence?
u got handphone number, u got sms, u got pm in forum, u got address etc...anything can be used.
maybe u should surf thru the trade dispute section here and see what else ppl have used to track con men.
