So you mean 27" is a little oversized for 1920x1080?

Hmmm this is something new for me. Thanks for the tip smile.gif

I understand what your point is but I always thought 1920X1080 was still "ok" for 27". 32" is definitely out lah biggrin.gif

1080p is definitely ok for 27", it depends on how far you sitting away from the monitor to appreciate the pixel density.

Those who do not know the Ultrasharp series will definitely not appreciate the worthiness of Dell high-end IPS panel.
The 30" price is even scarier... sweat.gif still quite cheap compare to others even higher-end IPS in the market.

I get the impression that a number of buyers don't understand what are screen resolutions and simply went for the "bigger" and "cheaper" display.

It is also easier to go multiple displays, if you want, with 24" IPS displays, as they take less desk space and maintain good colours from more angles. TN panels do poorly for multiple displays because of the poor display angles.

the reviewer is literally judging the monitor by its cover. nothing wrong about it. but its not very informative for ppl that want hard facts and number to prove the merits of the monitor.

Maybe for casual user or even normal gamers, beyond Full HD monitors are not important to them. Certainly for normal gamers, beyond FullHD monitor means that u need a very beefy gaming rig just to support 2560x1440 res and for casual user, the price for those monitors can easier go beyond the cost of the CPU itself.

Opinion vary btw ppl and for me 23/24 are just the sweet spot for fullHD monitors

The P2770H is a crappy product that should be boycott for normal users, UNLESS you have a vision problem and would prefer oversized fonts for easier reading. It is after all 1920x1080 on 27", compared to 1920x1200 on a 24" U2412M. I would recommend the P2770H for my grandmother, but not for my friends.

I don't know why'd anybody buy anything else but Dell's display tbh. Unless you are looking for super wide color gamut IPS panels. I'd never bother buying screens from any other brands, despite whatever technology they claim to have.

Dell offers:

1) Second to none warranty service - direct on site replacement (next business days when available)
2) No dead pixel premium panel warranty for IPS panels
3) Free shipping, no need to haggle, no need to park, no need to risk getting into traffic accident
4) Excellent pricing on top of 1-3
5) 0% installment payment for citibank/maybank credit card holders
6) Crazy price if you know friends working in Dell

I was building a cheap rig for my aunt and after browsing through lowyat's pricing, as well as the tradezone, Dell's offer was still the best.

Stuck pixel my dear friend, dead pixel require up to 6 to be able to claim, but if you have one stuck pixel and 5 dead pixel then you're eligible.
But BeastX does gives a tip before to claim as stuck pixel.

any recommendation on which IPS panel to use. It seem like Dell is preferable. any difference between the 24' & 27' Ultrasharp monitor? I meant not the price.

What is the meaning -Color gamut 82% (CIE1976) on 24' compare to -Color gamut 110% (CIE1976) on 27'.....

I want a monitor to be able present the colors correct for a photo and translate that to a printer!

If you are into photography, bigger monitor is better & if you are into IPS monitor, you just made the perfect choice. For color, you might want to calibrate your monitor to suit your need.

The U2410 and U2710 are factory calibrated. If you prefer the cheaper U2412M, or would like to recalibrate the colours from time to time, you will need to buy a colour calibrator to maintain colour accuracy.

Walau eh...

Now only I see the Dell U2710 price.... shocking.gif shocking.gif

He! He! He! So much diff one.

When Dell promo price out... how much lower can it get?

Man.... after searching... seems like I am getting deeper into the bunk hole!
Dell's U2410 is LCD right? Not LED?
And those U2412M and ST2420L are also IPS LED monitors... but seems like reviews didn't give them good grades...
So...

Let's compare money to money can buy situation.

U2412M and ST2420L price seems more relevant to those Samsung or LGs or Viewsonic.

So... in this case... which monitor is better?

the last time i saw U2711, an additional discount of RM 500 was given.

yes U2412 is the cheapest but hv to get calibrator worth around RM 400. but also notice difference in the term Color gamut 82% vs 110%

I think bigger the better more view in editing photos!

What do you need from your planned monitor? Serious photo editing that require accurate colors? Gaming/Movie?
How much do you expect from your next purchase? Less than RM1,000? RM600?
Do you care about after-sales-service? You prefer someone come to your house or you carry-in to service center?

To makes thing clear:
1. LED and LCD is 2 different thing (did I just answered this 999 times already?)
2. U2412M is IPS while ST2420L is TN.
3. U2412M and ST2420L is definitely cheaper than competitive, WHY? Cause I say so... *ahem* cause it's Dell service that you pay for, free delivery to door step, free labour service (depends on package) and door-2-door (no parking fees, no fuel fees, no waste of energy to carry your monitor to service centre).

Please do scroll down a bit at the product page to have a look at the technical specs and understand them, it's easy to just highlight the words, copy and google them for more information.

Ops... Sorry... I overlooked on the TN for ST2420L.

I know LED and LCD diff... I also know LED very slim. Ha! Ha! In term of outlook.
But in term of performance... I am not sure.
To answer your question (thanks...).
I am going to use it for all rounder. Some games, some movies and surely some photo editing.
I have an iMac 24" now. I also have a old AMD Antlon 939 3200+ running with a Dell 19" LCD. Can't remember the model but it is not the Wide type.

But Anyway... I am building a new rig so planning to get a new monitor to accompany it.
Expected to fork out below RM1k for the monitor but if can go around the RM600 mark, I'd be glad too.
After sales service... hmm... touch wood... I don't mind visit once or twice to solve problem but if gonna be like in and out many times... then surely...
So... that is about it.

I want to ask more about samsung dead pixel policy. It looks like you can only ask for warranty if the samsung LCD contains more than 7 dead pixels, but some people say you can actually ask the shop that you buy from to do 1 to 1 exchange within 7 days. Does this 1 to 1 exchange really work? I'm talking about when the LCD that I buy has about 1-2 dead pixel and ask for replacement.
