u only use the display port on the monitor when ur machine supports DP output.
since ur lappy has vga and hdmi, u can either use the VGA and cable that provided
or buy hdmi to DVI cable so u can connect it with any hdmi ouput device
becuz its a consumer product and its cheaper to design and produce, therefore it sells.
u have to remember most ppl are just happy with "just works" scenarios. which is just sad.

speaking of which, I'm still waiting for samsung to release its IPS alternative, PLS.
than again, desktop monitor are not where the is but TV or mobile device and samsung is just happy with TN monitor for the time being.
But still I can't wait for Samsung S24A850 n S27A850 to arrive on Malaysia shores in the later months as initial impression looks interesting

Absolutely no freaking way that VGA would deliver equal quality to DP/DVI. DVI and DP are digital signals and always deliver much sharper and crispier image. Try it and look at the fonts. I'd never use VGA cable, use digital whenever possible. As for DP vs DVI vs HDMI, those would deliver exact quality.

Spyder3Express is only RM3xx, well if you buy the IPS panel for its color might as well calibrate to ensure it is more accurate.

Funny thing happened when I was trying out some games on my U2311H, I noticed that I'm getting 30fps@1080p@high settings on Unreal Tournament 3 whereas I'm only getting around 20fps on my laptop 15.6" using the same settings

For 720p, I'm getting like 40fps+ on my U2311H whereas my laptop get about 30fps+

So, Pixel per Inch(PPI) affects gaming performance?

I finally got the LG IPS236V-PN but haven't tried it out because the seller sealed it in a box.

I wanted to get the Dell's U2312HM but this LG was sold to me at RM 450 for a month old usage. 3 years warranty.

The price was difficult to resist. Can't wait to try out tonight.
