well Dell don't like to keep more inventory/old stocks than they have to.. part of their business strategy...
*
I thought they're going offer discounts to clear stocks for the U2311H!

That's what they did to their Studio XPS laptops last time. RM3599 laptop discounted until RM2999 =.=

I dearly hope they'd put it back on the site cry.gif

sort of made the same mistake as you, thought they were going to further drop the price of u2311h, turns out now dont get to buy it anymore, and u2312hm's promotion ended before i could get one for myself :<
*
Yeah!! I was waiting.. and waiting... and waiting.. for the clearing stock discount doh.gif

But no worries, the price of the U2312HM should drop back to somewhere RM649 anytime soon smile.gif

wonder hows the performance of u2312hm in comparison to u2311h
*
Should have better contrast and brightness.

Perhaps better dynamic range also? smile.gif

Anyway, looks like there's no more hope to obtain a U2311H. I really prefer the sharp edges of the U2311H over the oval type of the U2312HM doh.gif

I believe the Dell U2312HM would be more superior than the LG equivalent in terms of Picture Quality? smile.gif

But come to think of it, it's a bit ironic because Dell's IPS panels are from LG right? laugh.gif

speaking of which, I'm still waiting for samsung to release its IPS alternative, PLS.
than again, desktop monitor are not where the is but TV or mobile device and samsung is just happy with TN monitor for the time being.
But still I can't wait for Samsung S24A850 n S27A850 to arrive on Malaysia shores in the later months as initial impression looks interesting
*
In fact, Samsung's Galaxy Tab 10.1 is already using their PLS panel..

The S24A850 looks good but I doubt the price would be able to match that of Dell's U2311H or even the U2412HM..

Elo... One more question.

I am building a new rig with i5 2500k and bla bla bla.

should I get LED or LCD or doesn't really matter?
If 24"... which one best performance I should get?
If 27"... which one best performance I should get?

Er... price wise, I am ok to fork 1k for a 27" but not 2-3k for the Dell one though. He! He!...
Why 24 or 27? Coz sometimes, since 27" might be still new... tech has not catch up yet and bla bla...

So pls... advise pls.
I'll use the PC for gaming, watching movie, photoshop.
*
For 24" I suggest the Dell IPS U2412HM

For 27" I suggest the Samsung P2770H

The Dell has an IPS screen which will tar pao the P2770H(TN panel) but loses out on the extra 4" size

The P2770H is a crappy product that should be boycott for normal users, UNLESS you have a vision problem and would prefer oversized fonts for easier reading. It is after all 1920x1080 on 27", compared to 1920x1200 on a 24" U2412M. I would recommend the P2770H for my grandmother, but not for my friends.
*
So you mean 27" is a little oversized for 1920x1080?

Hmmm this is something new for me. Thanks for the tip smile.gif

try put this way,

use 800x600 on 22" vs the native reso 1680x1050  sweat.gif
*
I understand what your point is but I always thought 1920X1080 was still "ok" for 27". 32" is definitely out lah biggrin.gif

Btw, mana gambar bro?? thumbup.gif

Display port to Display port

OR HDMI to DVI?

I'm also looking at price as a factor also lol. So roughly how much for each?

Do help!

Funny thing happened when I was trying out some games on my U2311H, I noticed that I'm getting 30fps@1080p@high settings on Unreal Tournament 3 whereas I'm only getting around 20fps on my laptop 15.6" using the same settings sweat.gif

For 720p, I'm getting like 40fps+ on my U2311H whereas my laptop get about 30fps+

So, Pixel per Inch(PPI) affects gaming performance?

No... the only thing affecting is how many pixels your GC has to display.

You can use a 21.5" 1920x1080 and a 24" 1920x1080, the performance is exactly the same.

hmm it should yield the same FPS since both screens are running at the same resolution  hmm.gif

i am using LG IPS236V paired with nvidia card...i found most of my photos are higher saturation then it should..how should i calibrate it..without any hardware colorimeter...

and good software??..or guide??...
*
Since the LG monitor is an IPS one, then it should be somewhat accurate. Thus, your pictures are memang saturated, just that you might not have realised it when using your old monitor during editing

QUOTE(Angelodeath @ Oct 4 2011, 07:27 PM)
so is there any users of P2770H or U2412M? how do you guys find it?
*
I think you should go for a U2412M because it's using an IPS panel which delivers better colour accuracy and colour reproduction.

Take the P2770H if you really need to bigger screen size

Can't seem to find the Dell Ultrasharp U2312HM everywhere in Low Yat plaza. All the stores don't have this model. Can't seem to find LG IPS236V too after much asking around. Rabbit.

Since I am not into online ordering(Dell), finally settled with the Samsung S23A350H. It's not an IPS panel but chose this one out of many brands available(Viewsonic, Asus etc.) since I like Samsung products.
*
Unlike laptops, you won't be able to purchase Dell Monitors anywhere except their online store. This is Dell's policy smile.gif

I'd suggest you to stick to IPS for the colour superiority/accuracy unless you really require a 'gaming' monitor
