there would be an extra card from the distributor, apart from the sigma warranty card.

if below RM2k, i would pick nikon 70-300 VR.
70-300 in general should have better IQ on D7000 cameras, as its actually a FX lens, but probably not by much.
55-300 has slower focusing speeds than 70-300.

but if ur on a tight budget, i guess 55-300 is good enough.
never tried the tamron, tho i think its also more expensive than the nikon 70-300?

Thanks for the feedback. I might put 70-300VR into consideration as well. Not sure bout the pricing difference atm. Yup u are correct tamron is more expensive than the nikon 55-300 which make me wonder 3rd party lens could give better IQ? hurm...

Anybody have used/tried/experienced these 2 lenses or either one could share more experience?

Thought about the AF-S 28-300mm f/3.5-5.6G ED VR ? A little bit more expensive and it's an FX lens.

What's the expectation? Would we be seeing D700's replacement sooner or probably D3 and D300s replacement as within expectation following their trend? biggrin.gif

I am using the 70-300 VR to shoot birds which is just sufficient for me considering my budget. sweat.gif

Before I can comment on the lens. Please let us know WHY do you need a Telephoto?

Can u share how much the pricey? Couldn't find this spec ni garage sales. But if I took 28-300 most likely I will under utilize my kit lens tho. I think my mistake is buying together with the kit lens, should buy body only then pair it with this range of lens sweat.gif

ok, its not exactly a tiny sensor.
user posted image

but if it helps to reduce camera size, then its good.
and this should still give decent images up to iso1600.

Its even smaller than Olympus' sad.gif I don't think ISO performance would be up to what the DSLR does...no where close.

well, the canon s90 sensor is 1/1.7 and at iso800 its still ok, so im expecting the nikon one to do decent at iso1600.

perhaps that's not what nikon had in mind. maybe it's to combat Leica in terms of mobility or something like that. Nikon hasn't been particularly good in portability before

Well its inferior to NEX5 or something like that... if can use APS-C and especially D7000 sensor that would have 'tapao' the rest biggrin.gif

one thing i never like with nex with aps-c sensor is design inbalance - compact body with big lens.

Smaller sensor that can still perform should also have smaller lenses...but i wont complain also if it can take the dx or fx lenses esp telephotos so can make use of 2.6x crop factor tongue.gif

How much did u bought for the lens? Am planning for usage mostly for sports games.

Now need to hunt sample photos from tamron brows.gif

Depends on your definition of OK, basically for these compact cams with such small sensor size, the noise is pretty bad and muddy, loosing a lot of details even at ISO 400 and above:

Try this:
http://www.dpreview.com/reviews/q42010high...roup/page13.asp

Try to compare against other mirrorless like PEN-EP2, GF2, etc. set ISO to 100, zoom at the "Grandma's face", you will see a lot of lines and details. As you go higher ISO, you can clearly see those compact cams with small sensor loosing details and gone muddy. At ISO800, it's pretty bad (for me at least).

Anyway, the discussion was about sensor size for the mirrorless camera; I agree with CY, it should at least have a bigger and good sensor, at least probably m4/3; but as a DSLR manufacturer, it should have APS-C like Sony, especially previously Nikon Rumors did mentioned Nikon is targeting the mirrorless towards "professional", but their sensor chosen seems otherwise? Then again, these are all rumors.

the S90 and the likes are obviously targetted at the consumer crowd.
and how many of the consumer crowd actually print more than 4R? or even pixel peep? or even print billboard sized images?
that said, those images at dpreview would look good enough at 4R even at iso1600.
