hello everyone,

Just wondering any of your companies have any vacancy? I'm really interested to work in SG but I do not know how to start. I have applied through job agents in jobstreets and other job search websites but no response so far. sad.gif

I'm currently working as IT (ERP) application consultant. I don't mind trying out other industries even if it means starting fresh.

I'd appreciate feedback and suggestions, thank you very much smile.gif

Sumtimes itz unavoidable, mind to shed sum lights on dis?
Thnx!

Try to join at least once a week. sometimes u can ask them wer they plan to go for lunch. then u can assess roughly wat is the prices there.
after a while they will understand ur finanacial limitation/kiamsap. singaporeans are themselves kiamsap as well. Singapore is a savings nation. so dun worry about giving the impression ur very kiamsap. Just tell them u wana blend into the high savings nation.

The difference will be greater if it is Monday to Thursday. Money changer always trying to earn more (especially RM)over the weekend.

u do mean the diff will be smaller Mon to Fri rite?
i think diff will bebigger fri to Sun, or even Mon. This is the days where tourist is around and some locals dedicate time to go change money.
Same money changer as in Msia

I don't see much difference between Singaporeans and Malaysians when it comes to weekday lunch. If you and your colleagues are all earning roughly the same salary, I don't see how they can afford something but you can't. Unless the managers or higher paid guys always decide where the group goes for lunch, I don't see an issue.

Locals will pay 20% of their salary to CPF. You won't. In terms of disposable income, it's all about the same.

Keep at it....don't give up.

2 years ago I took about 2 months to get a job....this time it took me like 2 weeks to find a job....so the magic word is Next...

Singapore is not a place to start fresh...everyone coming in here is experienced.

Then again, I might be wrong, but that is what I have seen.

加油!

best if company have it own cafeteria. Mine have one run by vendor with the waters and electricities fully sponsor by the company, so the food super-duper cheap, like $2.30 for 2 meat + 1 Vege smile.gif ... 1 meat + 1 fish + 1 vege $2.50 ... chinese tea FOC. Even with that also we sometimes get sick of the food and venture outside.

Can share what is typical cost when you eat with colleague vs when you eat alone?

Based on my experience, my Singaporean colleague is more stingy than me, don't even order drinks when go for lunch, I look like the richest among them by ordering 1 kopi-o. That was 2 years back though.

btw, not all subsidise canteen in cheap. the cafe in my office is selling food freaking expensive. its like 50% more expensive than those selling in the kopitiam opposite my office.

try not to change employer when you are still holding a work pass with another company. especially when election is just around the corner. If you are unlucky, then you might end up going back to Malaysia. just my 2 cents.
