Haha...if you grow up in KL, Canto is the way to go.  However, it seems there are a lot of Singaporean I knew speaks Cantonese especially in Bishan.  You can hear those aunties speaks Cantonese when ordering food.  How do you normally spend your weekend in JB?
*
Watch drama, play dota or come into SG find my aunty lor. And go back KL since i got car and can drive back anytime. hahaha.

Bishan area speak canto? not sure la but my aunty stay in Bishan and we speak canto (coz we are Malaysian). Even my uncle is a Singaporean and i speak canto with him coz used to it already since very young when i still in KL, we speak canto to each other. going out in SG is very expensive, and if we wanna go window shopping, SG shopping complex doesn't provide any bench for people to sit unlike Malaysia. So its not that comfortable as well.

Haha, I will just spend time in JB.  The driving/Taxi/Bus in during weekday can be exhausting.  So what I do is just to rest, rest and more rest.  haha. By the way, did you find out any nice food in JB?

I do enjoy going to Junction 8 sometimes.  I used to stay in Bishan before relocate to JB.  Not much but quite relaxing spending time there and not as crowded as in Orchard Rd.  Haha.. maybe we can meet up for yam char one of these day either in JB or in SG.
*
I only find that JB's Satay is very nice... regarding nice food. i only hear my colleague recommend 1 lor. that day i bring washabushi go eat that dim sum and crab. u ask him see nice or not lor. to me, its consider ok la. but still there are better restaurant in KL compare to JB.

Do you know where is the nice JB Satay?  Promised my kid to bring them for satay.

I normally eat at Meldrum road. there is this Malay guy (around 20s) selling satay there, his satay not bad. But there are so many store there so a bit hard to explain the exact store location. The other day this store din open, i tried the store next to it, the satay taste very bad. so you should really get the right store if u want good food.

Surprising, as I always find the money changer at Kranji to offer rates that are much better than the ones in JB. Even the money changer at Jurong Point give much better rates. Which JB changer do you go to?
*
because i stay in JB ma. you know when we come out from kastam if driving, then we turn to Jalan Tebrau, on the left side, there is 1 money changer and a motor shop. there is where i always change, their sign board shows 2.37 only. you need to go and ask them for the latest rate. their rate is better than those money changer in SG. last time i also think that JB's rate is low base on those sign board. but after living there for a while, i notice that when u go and ask them, they give better rates. especially u are changing above $1k SGD.

try not to change employer when you are still holding a work pass with another company. especially when election is just around the corner. If you are unlucky, then you might end up going back to Malaysia. just my 2 cents.

im thinkin about working around tuas/jurong and
stay around JB/gelang patah
(save alot leh!)  tongue.gif  tongue.gif

which means i will have to drive in and out of both country everyday
anybody has experience of doing this?

im wondering if you need any special visa/passport for frequent embarkment
and since i am going to drive my car from my place to work
do my car need some special sticker.tag or something too?

i heard quite many malaysians do this too.
living in my while working in sg
*
This is a very very stupid idea. when you say drive, i assume that u are driving a Malaysian car? since u say smth about sticker etc etc.
Just for your information, for a Malaysian car that enter Singapore during 2am-5pm (no matter u leave or enter Singapore as long as u are within that period), you need to pay 20 SGD VEP (Vehicle entry Permit) daily. Not only that, the toll on the 2nd link is gonna kill you as well. RM7.50 and $3.20 1 way. so 1 day u are paying 20SGD + 3.2 SGD + 3.2 SGD + RM7.50 + RM7.50 = 26.4 SGD + RM15. This is on a daily basis. With those money, its much better to rent a place in Jurong it self. save traveling time and also better security.

Guys, during interview in Singapore company, they will definitely ask me one question which I always unable to answer it properly... "Why Singapore?". This is something that I'm unable to answer it nicely. Anyone got any good answer for this?
Hi stanley, I'm currently looking for IT job based in Singapore, wondering whether you can pm me for more information regarding this job? thanks.

Singapore is the Regional hub for a lot of MNC. for example, Apple and HP have their Asia Pacific HQ in Singapore. so the career opportunity is definitely better here compare to any other country in this region smile.gif

It also depend on your experience as well as what you are earning in Malaysia.  For instance,  get a job with a salary gap that is so low, chances is that I will reject it and continue with my search.  When I am searching, there are a lot of strange and amuzed offer from various headhunters. Some of the interesting ones are like the below:

1. They can get me the job but I will need to pay them my first month salary.
2. They offer me a fraction of my salary and when I turned them down, they persuade me further to take the job.  I further declined and they scolded me for wasting their time.
3. I could not understand their English!

Well, it depends on where you are in your career.  Do a budget and see how much you want to save as well as your expenditure too.  In conclusion, have some fun with your job search.

Yes, I believe it's feasible staying in JB and commute to SG daily.  I am staying in JB but commute to SG daily.  Doing this as I have family commitment.  However, for those who just started out working in SG, I would recommend they stay in SG first.  Maybe after 1 year, you can think of relocating to JB/GP/BI area.  You can get use to the work life in SG (kind of different from MY), get use to the environment first.
*
if there is a like button like FB, i will like this comment. This is what i did as well. After staying in SG 1 year. at least you can experience their life. And when people talking about taking MRT, bus etc etc, at least you will have some information to share. Now i am staying in JB, not that bad as well and I feel home when i am in JB because u can see the significant difference compare to Singapore even its just 1 bridge away.

at JB, once u leave the causeway (driving), then there is 1 money changer there, 24 hours, their rate not bad. dun look at the board, its not their exact rate, you need to ask them, the rate is relatively good compare to those in SG.

Hi All,

I jz got my pass approved n followed by a msg >> As you'll need to go for medical check in Singapore, please arrive a few days before work commencement to allow medical clearance.
Does dis mean i hvta find a clinic to do da medical chck up? Arent they suppose to advice me whr to go to for da medical chck up? I tot co wil pay for it? unsure.gif
Anotha Q, watz da differences btween workin permit, Spass, Epass? Different privileges? unsure.gif
*
work permit is just a normal working permit. not much benefits, if u wanna apply a Singapore phone line, u need to pay deposit $200. if u wanna buy an iPhone plan, need to pay $800 deposit. S pass and E pass got not much difference. u can sign up phone line like any Singaporean and PR. but E pass u can apply for dependent pass, S pass can't.
