$400 nowadays is almost impossible to get a room. even in the outskirt like Woodlands and Pasir Ris, the rooms are going for around $500.

city hall is middle of town leh. for that budget you might need to extend your search to further away. by MRT not bad lah, you green line all the way to tampines also is like 25minutes only.

to me, i believe greenery here in sg is one of the major attractions to expats, tourist and investors.. look at mumbai, all their trees are dead yellow, look at indo, the trees in the cities belongs to halloween or at least some of them...

in japan, the sakura is a major attraction and a national icon to the people there...

therefore there's more than just trees...

just to add something. it is an offence to chop down trees without the approval of Nparks, unless the tree is replanted or replaced by another tree. new developments require a green buffer just to plant greens. in malaysia, i dun think there is such a thing.

In Malaysia, a "contractor" is given a lucrative contract to chop down every tree in sight, and then he is paid extra to "clean up" the area afterwards. This contractor then sells the lumber and pockets the money. I've even seen contracts to "prune and upkeep" trees still being paid each month long after all the trees have already been chopped down.

In between, you will need to "renew" your white card.

If your image conscious with people whom you dont know and have never met, then it would be a problem. I rarely visit the site and so do most of my colleagues and frens since it just amplifies how petty singaporeans can get.

I usually go there just to have a laugh and ridicule a large majority of the stories brought up.

Closing your eyes and catching forty winks isnt so bad in the mrt, just dont hog the priority seat and dont be an idiot and use a sleep mask since it makes you looks like a douche.
