neway... which club are you going to be working in? or do you mean you are going to join us here?

Nah I mean I'm joining the Singapore LYN 'club' hehe. Got a verbal confirmation from the new company, finance line, 80k/year. But don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch, will wait for HR to give offer letter first.

Nothing is confirmed until its in black and white, talk is cheap.

agreed. so until i see the offer letter with my own eyes i haven't even made a single arrangement to relocate, haha.

QUOTE(yeahs4.1 @ Apr 8 2011, 05:41 PM)
That's great!
What's the position if you dont mind?

In stanchart, but the technology side, handling projects for their wholesale banking. but like crapp0 said - no black and white, for all i know they'll come up with some reason why i should only be getting 48k p.a. on the letter tongue.gif

woohoo, got verbal confirmation of package, offer letter will come tomorrow. once i sign then HR gonna do EP application.

relocation benefits - 1 month stay, 1 month expenses paid, 1 container for shipping my stuff over.

other than that, base salary decent amount, target bonus ~2 months, CPF encashment cos i no PR (forgot how much ... I dunno what is CPF employer %'age).

Gonna be working in changi business park, any recommendations what areas to focus on in apartment rental search?

What post and which company if you dont mind sharing ?

Finance line smile.gif

QUOTE(cheeyt @ Apr 27 2011, 11:40 PM)
why some have relocation benefit and COF encashment? how to fight for it?

I'd rather have expat package but I not senior / in demand enough to get it ... so local package + relocation is OK I guess.

QUOTE(crapp0 @ Apr 28 2011, 09:14 AM)
Either tampines or pasir ris is good. Pasir ris more so since its more quiet and not so crowded like tampines but there isnt much in the way of food stalls in pasir ris.

Thanks bro, will look around.

Check out FlatsDB.com. Your one stop search engine for an affordable room in Singapore!

Other than flatsdb and iproperty, any other decent rental search places?

eh,

been looking around property websites, pasir ris/tampines, apartments seem to be around 2.0-2.5k sgd per month. pretty much that's the average price ... right?

2nd company: they will apply her EP first, if EP approve only sign LO

My offer, also big MNC, gave me offer first and then they helping me apply EP (via some external vendor). However the offer letter states that the offer is contingent upon me getting an EP. So ... no difference?

Also, they have a reputation of exaggerating their resumes and capabilities and typically do not meet job expectations

Haha, typical huh? Previous experiences with guys in india office also give me the impression that most of them are NATO (no action talk only).

Anyways my EP application was done last Thursday, fingers crossed that it won't get rejected sad.gif ...

Who doesn't?

I don't know about india indians in singapore, but in my experience working with the indians in india in my MNC, their concept of exaggeration is way beyond what malaysians are capable of. They've got this ability to talk as if they have superhuman powers but in reality can't deliver. And in concalls if you let them dictate the meeting, it'll be hours of talking and end up with nothing at the end of it.

Of course I'm generalizing from my personal viewpoints, your mileage may vary.

Guys quick ques about cellphones. Malaysia you can convert a prepaid line to postpaid and keep same number. Singapore telcos also same? Any recommendation for provider? Will be in temporary accomodation for a couple of weeks.

[edit] also ... any comment on following housing areas: tampines, pasir ris, bedok? tampines/pasir ris seems to be similar pricing at sgd 2.2-2.6k for 1xxx sq ft HDB. Bedok seems way more exp at sgd 2+k for 600-700 sq ft apt - but company got feeder bus direct from bedok mrt to office.

I dun think Msia can oso. Postpaid to prepaid can, not the otherway round. Correct me if im worng tho.

Malaysia can - I changed my hotlink to maxis postpaid like 2 years ago, kept same number.

Sigh sucks that Singapore can't do that ... I'd need a SG line ASAP but then I don't have proper address/whatever yet ... hurm ...

hmm I am still in the applying stage.. need to wait 21days to know got it or not sad.gif

epass application? if you/your company did it online it's supposed to be within 7 working days. mine took double that cos the lady handling my case screwed up somewhere and needed to clarify things twice with MOM, but their first response back to me was on the spot 7 days.

- for non-pr in sg, will the employer still offer to pay "employer CPF" into your salary?

For my case, yes, employer is paying me additional employer CPF. But I don't know if it's standard practice or not.

Anyway I'm here! Company put me up in Grand Park City Hall hotel for a month while I look for a more permanent place to stay. Bought my ez link and starhub green (no micro sim so I had to buy scissors in carre4 and cut myself).
