Nah I mean I'm joining the Singapore LYN 'club' hehe. Got a verbal confirmation from the new company, finance line, 80k/year. But don't wanna count my chickens before they hatch, will wait for HR to give offer letter first. |

QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Apr 9 2011, 12:59 AM) i am so dead... company gave me a sg registered car to drive a client around for shopping 2molo n sunday... now it is downstairs... arghh!! how, 2molo take car n bring him around? zzz... I would suggest camelbak since it integrates a fluid hydration system into the a normal backpack package since if you like hiking, its very important to keep yourself hydrated at all times.btw, where to buy those hiking bag ar? best place... like deuter, northface, karrimor... etc etc I have one when i go for work since its a pain to bring a water botol when my backpack can serve as a storage medium for both my equipment as well as a quick to reach water bottle system. I got mine while i was in the states but most hiking and certain bike shops should sell these range since its rather popular. QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Apr 10 2011, 01:06 AM) couldnt see while driving... luckily it was like only 10 minutes What matters for hikers is how the product performs and is it rugged enough that it will last you instead of wearing out prematurely. QUOTE(alaskanbunny @ Apr 10 2011, 07:18 PM) errr... but i mean among those top brands... i am sure deuter will do as well as tatonka right? n tatonka looks very outdated, they dont have those like extra pocket, rain cover... etc etc... i dunno much ler, just brought him to buy... i am a fat kid who only work n sleeps on bed.. ntg else Top tip if your serious on your hiking equipment, see what the guy from man vs wild uses during the show. I am not familiar with tatonka.if u got time, then physically bring it back lor... change in msia or in sg... sg i know the one at lot1 cck have very good rates... although free but does CIMB offer competitive rates? it is called e-savers acc. QUOTE(giorgene @ Apr 11 2011, 12:42 PM) MVC 15% means if your company not doing well, they have the right to lower your salary by max 15% Some company that implements this eventhough its abit of a boom session in singapore. Or more accurately last year but im still seeing the effects of last years unprecedented growth rate."MVC is a “standby” component to be used by employers to bring down wage costs in sudden and severe business downturns to survive and save jobs. Monthly Variable Component ((MVC) forms part of monthly basic salary. It is to be included in computing overtime payment and CPF contribution." Looks like someone screwed up managing the company or their just really stingy. |

QUOTE(Semper Fi @ Apr 11 2011, 12:57 PM) Hi Georgene n Crappo, Not sure about the "without your consent" but most business would at least inform you about any deductions to your salary if the financial situation is going down the toilet. I suggest you clarify with either HR or management in the event that MVC kicks in, would they cut your salary without your consent and on what factors would influence the company to implement MVC.Thnx for ur response. So means they can lower my salary anytime without my consent? Is dis MVC practice common in Sg? N oso,wud like to knw hw do i run tax? |

QUOTE(mea05key @ Apr 11 2011, 08:31 PM) I think its good to venture away from ones comfort zone especially at young age to gain more working and life experience. A good pay can be a good motivating factor to work harder and ignore some of the miseries of being away from home. But I doubt I will be staying in Singapore for good in my life - looking at somewhere less stressful , for that case Malaysia is wonderful. You and every other malaysian has the idea of working overseas to earn big bucks and retire back since the cost of living isnt that high. |

QUOTE(mea05key @ Apr 15 2011, 02:58 PM) Oh I love to do something like that ! I even had thought about doing it weekends when I start working in Singapore. Boat quay or clarke quay to "chillax".Contributing to the animal kingdom while having the company of chicks... its a win win situation! Heck, I need some to keep myself alive in Singapore! Any hangout groups for Malaysian expat? Butter factory or zouk if your into the clubbing scene. I usually goto the reddot brewhouse for their green spirulina beer, very refreshing in hot and sweaty singapore. |

QUOTE(alvin227 @ Apr 18 2011, 09:49 AM) can anyone recommend me coach/bus service from sg to malacca/genting in term of price and quality? Thanks in advance.. Dont know about genting, but melaka its all the same bus since its mostly if not all express buses. The ones i know are delima, malacca-singapore express and 707 bus express. The odd one out is 707 since it doesnt stop half way at JB for a "pit stop" but goes directly to melaka without stopping so you dont waste your time at the JB bus stop area. I believe the stop area is yong peng. |

Anybody have a website which list down the prices for all of the major asian budget airlines servicing singapore?
Instead of having to goto each budget airlines website to see which has the best deal to a certain destination, theres a database of sorts which compiles all of that info into one website. I remembered there was one which was really good but i've forgotten the link to it. |

My previous colleague sums up jurong shipyard as "Bring a barf bag when your entering JS since your gonna puke blood all the way and back again!". I've only entered JS twice and i dont my OM im not going to that yard anymore since its just too much of a hassle. Im currently in the process of attending Nebosh to get my diploma in occupational safety and am looking to be accredited by CSP as well.
