thx for the info, almostthere, HaHaNoCluE , metalzone and irangan........
well i dun worry about running 24/7, as i have experince in pump running long hours but a dynamic operating profile which worries me.... frequent on and off will create quite some problem for larger motors as i have experince 1st hand but small 1 i have to ask advice from all the user around here... btw almostthere, i'm not refering to water hammer but rather repeatative wall pressure stressing on the plastic tubes... i think i'll go some industrial grade tubes HaHaNoCluE, toys eh hehe....... well quite expensive toys wow.....i was thinking of pumping my Q66 for more performance... |

He's only cooling his CPU should be just nice with single fan configuration ...
Unless he's going to add a VGA block, single rad is definitely enough .. |

QUOTE(LExus65 @ Nov 10 2007, 02:34 PM) btw almostthere, i'm not refering to water hammer but rather repeatative wall pressure stressing on the plastic tubes... i think i'll go some industrial grade tubes Seriously, the amount of head pressure supplied by pumps we use won't stress the tubes beyond it's limits. If anything leaks first, it's not the tubings. Rather, the joints between the tubing and the barbs or barbs to the component.Heck in fact most of us use laboratory grade tubings, which are also used in industrial applications. So how industrial can you get? Too stiff tubings aren't good for the thermal joint between the waterblock base and core/IHS surface. It will tend to induce torque, pulling away optimum waterblock contact unless u really hard mounted that thing. So don't worry about the tubings. Try not to use very stiff tubings. Cheers. It's wiser just to invest on a good block coz the design make lost of difference in performance ...
There were cheap block sold in bulk order last time .. but seems like closed for long time .... |

thx for the info
industrial tube not necessary to be very stiff, some are a bit more resistance to shear (tear) then laboratory tubes.... i used to use it for higher pressure penumatic hose, so i have no worries it will break or leakage....now just to see whether the quality has gone down or still maintain the same over the years since i last used it. joint is the main problem i see..... hrm...... then i'll put more attention to it when i get my blocks. Btw just to ask, do you apply grease on the barb before the tube are slide in ? btw 21oC really low..... on air cond can get that low ?? This post has been edited by LExus65: Nov 12 2007, 01:02 PM |

I've never heard of any of our peeps having broken tubing eh. We use Tygon R3606, Tygon Silver, Masterkleer, Clearflex 60, all so far no problems.
The barbs should be well tightened, but don't overdo it or you damage our common delrin/acetal tops or crack an acrylic reservoir. I don't put anything actually. Just slide on. That's with 1/2" ID tubings over 1/2" OD barbs la. If you're putting 7/16" ID tubings over 1/2" barbs you might wanna soak the tips into hot water for 10 seconds so soften it before putting it on. You can do the same if you find it hard to slide the tubes on. 7/16" ID tubing over 1/2" OD barbs, if u dont clamp also it may not leak, but you may do so for assurance. If you're running very restrictive waterblocks or powerful pumps, you need to clamp a little harder, but again, don't overdo it. You can use those normal worm drive clamps which can be found in hardware stores if zip ties or plastic clamps aren't sufficient (but most of the time they will do). |
