So I just want to share about my findings on scholarship for UiTM Sarjana Sains Senibina, whether I should take PTPTN or getting the JPA PIDN as a 2011 SPM leaver. I called JPA, and they said:

WPP (Wang Pinjaman Pendahuluan) PTPTN can be taken. 2011 SPM leavers CAN apply for PIDN (Program Ijazah Dalam Negara) for the mentioned course if acedemic qualifications are met. PIDN application will be open FOR A WEEK, between June and August. The WPP PTPTN is advised to be taken, because in some cases, the PIDN Scholaship money may be recieved a bit later maybe like 1 January 2013 (UiTM architecture degree students register on 1 September 2012). So you can use the WPP money for the fee first. After that, the loan can be closed upon recieving the JPA's scholarship and pay it back to PTPTN.

I advise you to think this through first, by taking jpa scholarship you are bound to serve in goverment office or government related company once youve graduated, from waht i see most of my friend who were JPA scholar ended up teaching in technical college or polytechnics, option to work under an architectural firm is long gone, and from what ive heard future JPA scholars will be put into gov service as mandatory, right there are few who lucky enough not to get called into service.

im just giving you a headstart for what will happen later once youve graduated, well the scholarship is tempting 5000 per semester who didnt want that?

supreme, i think it is up to u. if you really dont have passion in archtiecture, u wont make fun of it and u wont enjoy it. i have seen some are not interested but ended up as a boss/ar... which i used to work with before. well, seriously... everything is so boring to him. he has dedicated his life to earn money than what he likes.

Why Bsc of Architecture at Taylor's is not in the list of MQA & JPA even though they already accredited by LAM?

JPA- http://pengiktirafan.jpa.gov.my/

MQA- http://www.mqa.gov.my/MQR/english/eakrKPLi...m?IDAkrIPTS=176

it is really up to u. but yes, QS earns a bit less than architects. but job spec is different as well. i havent seen any QS losing sleep or bringing works back home. architects do that often.

Does Bsc of Architecture in LKW has a good reputation compared to other IPTS (UCSI, Taylor's, KLIUC) ? I heard a few things from my friends, during her last internship, that company don't really like to accept students from LKW for their intern.

I considered LKW before for my degree, it seems that there are so many bad rumors about LKW and i don't understand why. It was so bad until my aunt who knows nothing bout architecture education told me that LKW is bad. I dont know where the rumors are coming from but I dropped LKW from my list. If LKW reputation is that bad until a firm doesn't really want to accept you, then i believe it's pretty serious.

what i could gather is:

1) loud music everywhere
2) you can smoke in the campus
3) uni paid more attention to social events than actually teaching you
4) lecturer not up to par (or so)
5) most of their good lecturers went to Taylors or UCSI (this was few years back, not sure about now)
6) too many foreigners

the first two are based on my own experience, i actually wen't there to enquire about their course.

My friend is studying in LKW, he's one of the top student there. Work wise, he's amazing. But that's individual, and it's pretty subjective cause their work doesn't actually represent the quality of the school they're in. So i'm not actually sure hows the standard for their architecture course in LKW. Most of the rumors I heard is towards LKW and not about their architecture education. Hopefully someone can clarify this

i personally would recommend taylor's or UCSI or even alpha college above LKW. but it's up to u really. some of the rumors have some basis in it, but most of the time it's exaggerated of course.

there is a rather large number of international students in LKW. and most of them are from africa. and u know how the public views the africans nowadays. i'm not being racist, but the stigma of the stuffs in the news is a notion hard to avoid. their culture is very different. they are very upfront and straightforward and has no hesitation for confrontations. u combine this with architecture, u can imagine how hostile the environment can be.

now, with that aside, u should decide if that alone is significant enough to sway ur interest. LKW do have one of the best environment for designers, especially since u're right in the middle of a creatively driven group (interior design, graphics, fashion, hair etc).

about internship, probably there's some truth in it. my old office refused to take LKW students bcoz they're snobbish and so full of themselves. one had the audacity to refuse the job required bcoz that night he wants to go clubbing with some friends. the next day dia kena buang lol.

Added on May 25, 2012, 11:15 pmHello all.

I'm happy to announce that UTM is opening its Masters in Architecture LAM Part 2 intake now. Applicants from other institutions with LAM Part 1 may apply. We have a small number of place to offer, but due to the late endorsement by the Ministry, the only place where this course have been advertised is in this thread (lol!).

So if you hold a degree/diploma with LAM part, with at least 3.00cgpa, you may apply. PM me for more info.

take anything, as long as u can score as close to 4.00 as u can. if u plan to go for USM or UM, concentrate on science subjects.

yes in metres. I got the PL from this german company and they didnt include the full dimensions, worst is they only gave me length for certain items cry.gif

one more thing is, is it safe to stack these strusses on top of each other? will the frame hold up? what about zincalume roof sheets? can they be stacked or will it dent?
