QUOTE(azarimy @ Jun 7 2012, 10:19 AM) building surveyor is something like a pathologist, but for buildings. they study the physical of the building, economy, usage etc and can give u a possible prediction on future development that's gonna affect the building, its surrounding context, potential activities and so on. no designing at all?and one more thing, does building surveyors got their own act?such as qs got BQSM and architect got LAM right?yes, architects can do that as well. but these people made a science out of it. as far as i know, they DONT do design. |

i'm not sure. at the moment, interior design 'tumpang' architect's act. if building surveyors dont have their own act yet, i wouldnt be surprised if it's embedded somewhere under architect's act. im pretty bummed to hear that,so BS dun hv part 2 and 3,dun hv exam to become professional. btw thank you for the info,it definitely clarifies things |

QUOTE(azarimy @ Jul 30 2012, 04:00 PM) first of all, congratulations. Thank you town planning is another branch in the built environment. if interior designers deal with designing the interior of the building, and architects deal with designing the building itself; town planners deal with design on a much larger scale: a town or city. ever wondered who decides to put that traffic light near your house? or turning that empty lot into a green pocket space? these are just some idea of what town planners do. basically the entire game SIMCITY is modelled based on what townplanners do. i'm not sure about career opportunities though. most of my friends doing townplanners ended up in the government. but there are numerous townplanning firms out there. |

QUOTE(tehtmc @ Jul 30 2012, 04:55 PM) Pr? Haven't seen that used for town planners. thanks for the info man! There's Ar for architects, Ir for engineers and Sr for surveyors. Town planning is a profession in its own right, governed by the Town Planners Act. By law, development plans exceeding 2 hectare (5 acres) in area have to be submitted by townplanners. The work used to be done by architects. There is some overlap between the work of town planners and architects. I see the planner's job as 2-D work, arranging spaces on a macro scale. Townplanners in the public sector are powerful positions with a lot of authority. They control the height of buildings, positioning, setbacks, coverage, density, land use, etc which are crucial factors in a development. In private sector, town planners are involved in preparing layout plans for townships. It is something like dividing a big cake into smaller pieces - not too difficult a job. QUOTE(azarimy @ Aug 1 2012, 08:44 PM) Umm architecture is extremely heavy on projects, with subjects lingering around! U should know that architecture used to take about 10years to study. Then its reduced to 8, later 6 and eventually 5 years. The loading is still pretty much there, which is why u often hear architects do not sleep. Its always projects, projects, projects! sorry.i forgot to mention that i was talking about town planning! Only if u quit the course and change to architecture. Assalamuakum mr Azarimy and selamat hari raya .
Ok I'll make this quick. My brother is a civil engineering diploma holder, and he's planning to pursue his studies in architecture, he applied to several private unis in malaysia and this morning, a private U in pj which is city university college has offered my bro to sambung architecture, and can transfer credit too. First I wanna know, Is city university is accredited by LAM? Second thing, City university is a good place to study architecture? Third and last question, can you recommend other private unis that is not very expensive and a good place to gain knowledge and ofcourse, accredited by LAM? Thanks in advance This post has been edited by SupremeLahh7: Aug 14 2013, 02:29 PM |
