Hi, I need some advice and guidance.
I'm interested in pursuing the architecture field and I will be starting my Form 6 in July.
I would like to know what subjects that I should take for my field while I'm in Form 6.
Hope I would get a reply urgently and I'm very much appreciated. Thanks in advance. smile.gif

apart from that, architecture uses almost every chapter of the form 4 and 5 maths. no addmaths.

a year usually would already result in a great improvement among the students. personally, i'd say 2 years, because it would allow the student to observe buildings from the initiation stage right into the completion of the construction works. even better if he has had a hand in it too.

BSc. Arch is a professional degree. it's just of a lower level, which only allows one to become an assistant architect. u need a B>Arch (or M.Arch) to qualify as an architect.

How can a student in Part I in private uni pursue Part II in govt uni?

Hi, may I know what is the difference between Bachelor of Architecture and Bachelor of Science in Architecture?
*
Bachelor of Science is for the first part with 3 years while the other is second part with 2 years.
(Someone correct me if I'm wrong, though)

And also, I've heard UTAR requires a drawing or something while application. Can someone clarify on this?

Usually IPTS students with part 1 can opt to join IPTAs for their part 2. If their results and portfolio are impressive enough, they can join any IPTAs immediately after the 6mnths compulsory practical exposure. If not, then 2-3 years of working experience should be enough to compensate the grades.

Else, they can go abroad for their part 2 as well.

Much thanks for this answer. Been looking for it a while now. smile.gif

as part of the continuous quality assurance programme, all professional courses in malaysia are required to undergo a review (commonly known as reaccreditation or to continue/further accreditation) every 5 years. as it approaches its expiry date, a school must commit to prepare itself for the reaccreditation process. so once the process goes through and all the requirements fulfilled, the school will be awarded another 5 years of accreditation.

this process goes on and on till it fails to reaccredit itself or it closes down.

do note that sometimes the accreditation panel are not fully satisfied with a school and demand an immediate remedy on any particular thing that are not satisfactory. in such case, the school will only be given a 2 year accreditation instead of 5. when they review the programme after 2 years, if satisfactory, will continue the next 3 years fully accredited.

students should not worry if a school is approaching accreditation expiry, as any school would have prepared itself to be reaccredited, or else risk losing business, risk getting sued by students+parents, bad reputation to the parent university and stuffs like that. so far, no schools have failed to continue its accreditation in malaysia.

Phew that's a relief. Thanks for the info! smile.gif

UTAR and Taylor's will conduct interview for architectural course. Taylor's requires both aptitude and interview. UCSI none. Just a share. smile.gif

azarimy, Hi. I was just wondering, what's the actual function and purpose and benefits of the PAM student membership, though?

Hi sir, I'm currently interested to study in Taylor's but I need to go through a aptitude test and interview. So, I would like to know more what this aptitude test is all about and what sort of questions will they asked during the interview / aptitude test.
*
When I had my aptitude test, they asked questions about designs, shapes and other stuffs for Section A. Section B will be sketching an interior space of a building while Section C essays questions. Not other special questions asked during interview though, aside all those your-past-experience stuffs.

I'm looking for a way to bind my architecture portfolio, probably in A3 landscape size but currently still couldnt figure out a best way to do it.

Any recommendations for binding technique? Some shop only sells A3 hardcase in potrait which will be hard to browse through coz my project pages are all prepared in landscape..

I kinda like the screw post binding method, can this services be found in KL/PJ area or any other places? Some online website sells their handmade screw post binding cover as well, do anyone know if any shop in malaysia is selling those also?

There are plenty of design printing shops around Sunway that may be suitable for you. smile.gif

I have a thought lately that if archi students were to progress to Part 2 after completing Part 1, based on the progression pathway and we gotta fulfill the compulsory 6 months practical experience.

So as suggested by sir azarimy, it's better for us to work immediately after our final year of Part 1. But, the questions is, we are not fulfilling the 6 months requirement yet if we start to work before the convocation, right? And it still counts us as an architectural intern. blink.gif hmm.gif hmm.gif

are you talking about continuing directly from ending the programme in june 2017 and continuing in feb 2018? that's slighly more than 6 months, which is fine.

LAM counts experience for part 2 as working after having completed/passed all your part 1 courses/subjects. so if u've completed everything in june 2017, your 6 months work could start counting in july 2017.

Does the bold statement refer to acquiring one's graduate certificate? Or just merely the ending of that programme/obtaining the final results?

when you've finished all your courses, you can get a certificate from the school that you've completed all programmes and can start working. convocation is just a big ass party that celebrates your completion. it doesnt even hand u the actual certificates. these actually come much later with the graduation package which usually includes grad photos and whatever furnished documents. some schools hold convocations within 6 months of u finishing the course. some a month after. but did you know you could postpone your convocation until years later?

basically what i'm saying, convocation is NOT an indicator of when you finished studies. all schools with LAM part 1 will be know full well of the 6 months working requirement before joining part 2, and will have no problem issuing such letters.

if they refuse to issue the letter without reason, u can write to us (CAAEM) officially and we will look into the matter.

Thanks, it's clearer now. smile.gif

azarimy, if I remember correctly, you posted a link to LAM about how an architecture school would need to perform and the facilities they ought to provide, something like that. I couldn't find it, hmm.
