as part of the continuous quality assurance programme, all professional courses in malaysia are required to undergo a review (commonly known as reaccreditation or to continue/further accreditation) every 5 years. as it approaches its expiry date, a school must commit to prepare itself for the reaccreditation process. so once the process goes through and all the requirements fulfilled, the school will be awarded another 5 years of accreditation.
this process goes on and on till it fails to reaccredit itself or it closes down.
do note that sometimes the accreditation panel are not fully satisfied with a school and demand an immediate remedy on any particular thing that are not satisfactory. in such case, the school will only be given a 2 year accreditation instead of 5. when they review the programme after 2 years, if satisfactory, will continue the next 3 years fully accredited.
students should not worry if a school is approaching accreditation expiry, as any school would have prepared itself to be reaccredited, or else risk losing business, risk getting sued by students+parents, bad reputation to the parent university and stuffs like that. so far, no schools have failed to continue its accreditation in malaysia.
Phew that's a relief. Thanks for the info!
