BBS with the Ming Shi/QShave Merkur Futur clone. For just RM26, it's an amazing adjustable razor.

Any idea if there's a difference between Ming Shi and Qshave? Seems like Qshave is more expensive than the Ming Shi.

It seems that the first affordable version of the 'Futur' design was from MIng Shi. Have read many favorable reviews on this particular brand. No idea about Qshave though. My advice is , go with the crowd

Old Spice - Gillette Red Tip shave.
I prefer the scent of the OS after shave compared to the shaving cream.

Anyone know where to buy loose pack of double edge blades? I don't want to buy blades by the carton/100s. I saw the Gillette Super Nacet blade at Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia but it is expensive at $5.67 per pack (5 blades).

Own a qshave, not my razor. This design head too big.
Cheap razor feather popular beats them IMHO.

This site has a few thread comparing

You will need a double edge (DE) razor and some blades at a minimum.

DE Razors (Economical) at Daiso, Mr. D.I.Y., Haniffa, AliExpress.
DE Razors (Euro) like Edwin Jagger DE89, Merkur 34C, Muhle R89, Fatip Testina Gentile try Connaught Shaving, etc.
DE Razors (Vintage) - eBay

DE Blades at Haniffa, Mydin, some Giant stores, Kedai Rakyat 1Malaysia, any Indian Barbershop, online/overseas.

Shaving Brush - online/overseas

Shaving Cream/Soap - Haniffa, Mydin, The Body Shop, Crabtree & Evelyn, Ben's Independent Grocer (Arko), Shaves2U (Arko), online/overseas.

What is your budget?

You can get nice badger brush, stand and bowl on AliExpress

Soap I like menthol if you like it in the hot weather try proraso shaving soap. Easy to leather

Razor for starter I recommend Rockwell 6C.

Fatip open comb is pretty aggressive can give very close shave. don't own one but I do won the Muhle R41

Is budgeting RM200 enough? Otherwise, I can always double it. To me it's more about achieving a smooth and close shave that matters most. I saw the link to the Rockwell 6C, that looks good. Any places I can purchase similar types razors locally? Would like to go to the shop and check them out.

Not looking to test on my face but at least have the product for me to see or view it I guess.

Trying not to spend too much time shaving as well haha. Unless you guys here say that old school way is definitely slower than those Gillette mass produced types?

See only cannot help u understand how it felt on the face.
See a bottle of shampoo cannot help u understand performance.
Depends on the razor it can be just as fast as good old Multi blade Gillette.

If you getting a open comb can take good 10-15mins

Feather DE razor - popular or AS learning curve short
Popular too light but it does the job. Both feather I can shave without much worry like a multi blade Gillette.

I don’t have a full face of hair so it’s fast for me
If you want to try different levels of aggressiveness can go Rockwell 6C. Qshave futur clone head too big for a newbie, I don’t like it. I find Rockwell performing very close to a feather. You can get a feather popular for a start, if u can afford a Rockwell or if u can really afford go for feather AS.

If you want to test out using DE razor, I would recommend you buying those cheap razor with good blades to try it first if you are happy with it. It will feel a bit different that using a normal shaving razor (those 2,3,5 blades with plastic handle). I started with some China made metal razor with Gillette blades, then later I upgraded to a Merkur as I liked the feel of using a DE razor (not sure which model but the linked below from amazon which I bought) . Btw I don't use any brush/ shaving cream etc so I can't comment on that. I just use the facial cleaner foam as the lubricant to shave. Saves time and no need to apply other stuff on my face smile.gif

If you are in the KL area, visit Hanifa to pick up some blades and see which one you like more. Wilkinson is the best in my opinion - very smooth but expensive, Gillette 7 would be next best. I don't seem to like Astra (feels blunt and not smooth for me). Hanifa do sell them in a box (5 blades each), so buy a few different brands to test out.
