QUOTE(kamazaki @ Jun 18 2017, 09:48 AM) Try larry at http://www.whippeddog.com/OR alternately, you can try getting the TITAN or ZY brand straight razor from Ali Express . Both gets favorable reviews on straight razor forums. I personally own a TITAN. Holds up the edge very well. But over time, you will need to hone it. You can also obtain a honing stone from Ali Express as well. Would recommend at least an 8k grit. If you have extra cash to burn, get the Guangxi stone. This is a natural stone, very forgiving as its a slow cutter. Rumoured to be of 12k grits |

Steel razor is double the price, even EJ etc all made with zinc alloy. Only MIC razor at usd$10-20. German etc all close to usd$50. The 6C is adjustable 6C usd$30 http://www.westcoastshaving.com/best-selli...ety-razors.html Steel feather usd$160, steel Rockwell usd$100, steel blackbird usd$185, steel ikon $120 This post has been edited by patryn33: Jul 27 2017, 10:26 PM |

QUOTE(whistler @ Jul 29 2017, 09:24 AM) All vintage Gillettes prior to WWII were of brass construction with gold, silver, or nickel plating which is why many have survived and is a testament to brass' durability. Wahh Thanks.During WWII, some razors were constructed of zinc alloy/zamak as the war effort lead to brass shotages. Zinc alloy razors will deteriorate and crumble once its protective plating is damaged. The all brass Fatip Grande, Piccolo, and Testina Gentile razors can be had for around US$20. That US$30 razor is a Rockwell 2C not the 6C. It comes with only a single baseplate. WCS' shipping is outrageous. They charge US$20 to ship a $30 razor. Try Maggard. Fendrihan sells full stainless steel razors at US$34.95/US$39.95 but they don't ship to Malaysia. |

Thanx on Fendrihan, no idea of this brand. Brass (copper and zinc) more resistance than zamack, a lot of ppl replate their vintage zamack Gillette. How long can plating last? Ppl claim their zamack chrome still looks fine after 40yrs+. I am fine if it can last 50yrs, almost dead then have better things to worry than a razor lol |
