All vintage Gillettes prior to WWII were of brass construction with gold, silver, or nickel plating which is why many have survived and is a testament to brass' durability.
During WWII, some razors were constructed of zinc alloy/zamak as the war effort lead to brass shotages. Zinc alloy razors will deteriorate and crumble once its protective plating is damaged.
The all brass Fatip Grande, Piccolo, and Testina Gentile razors can be had for around US$20.
That US$30 razor is a Rockwell 2C not the 6C. It comes with only a single baseplate. WCS' shipping is outrageous. They charge US$20 to ship a $30 razor.
Try Maggard.
Fendrihan sells full stainless steel razors at US$34.95/US$39.95 but they don't ship to Malaysia.
Fatip just usd$20? I am finding them at ~usd$30
Yes it's a Rockwell 2c not 6C, need to check smart auto correct.
Thanx on Fendrihan, no idea of this brand.
Brass (copper and zinc) more resistance than zamack, a lot of ppl replate their vintage zamack Gillette. How long can plating last? Ppl claim their zamack chrome still looks fine after 40yrs+. I am fine if it can last 50yrs, almost dead then have better things to worry than a razor lol
