QUOTE(vetkin_gray @ Feb 18 2012, 01:15 AM) Depends. Is it 2x1 tiles laid horizontally on wall? Cause those are harder to tile thus more expensive and needs adhesive called cement gun which are quite expensive. Better decide urself whether you want horizontal or vertical and ask your contractor which one he charge for. If its horizontal, then its considered cheap in my opinion The cost does not depend on whether the tile is laid horizontally or vertically.I know the horizontal pattern is more popular these days. It depends on the size of the tiles, whether they are 8x10, 10x16, 12x24, etc. Of course the bigger the higher the cost, as smaller tiles are easier to lay. QUOTE(tehtmc @ Feb 18 2012, 03:43 PM) The cost does not depend on whether the tile is laid horizontally or vertically. hmm, maybe you are right about the horizon/vertical layout. but i've heard this from two sources of tiler that horizontal arrangement requires more skill. i have no stand on this since im not a tiler myself.I know the horizontal pattern is more popular these days. It depends on the size of the tiles, whether they are 8x10, 10x16, 12x24, etc. Of course the bigger the higher the cost, as smaller tiles are easier to lay. but bigger tiles costs much more to tile that i agree. |

Cost should be the same. The main difference is the skill.
Different si-fu can charge same or different price since there is no standard price but different people has different skill level, work ethics and experience. Result will really depend on your luck. |

Hi, I intend to remove parquet and lay with ceramic tiles for 3 bedrooms and staircase. House size is 20x65.
Any good tiler to recommend? For those who experience, do you know how much would it cost, excluding tiles. Thanks. |

QUOTE(ljchiun @ Feb 26 2012, 09:11 PM) Hi, I intend to remove parquet and lay with ceramic tiles for 3 bedrooms and staircase. House size is 20x65. Why would you want to do that? Tiles get very cold and not suitable for bedroom especially when there's AC. You get cold hard feet when waking up on tiles. Get laminated flooring instead. Price wise not much difference.Any good tiler to recommend? For those who experience, do you know how much would it cost, excluding tiles. Thanks. |

Just a noob question here... i noticed some of the tiles in the house are having this hollow sounds, is this due to the contractor "tricks" of cutting cost and cheating? or due to the quality of the tiles themselves.
Besides that, for this kind of condition, will re-laying the tiles make any difference? hope to get some replies. Thank you. |

2x2 or 800mm x 800mm installation are always higher than 1x1 or 1x2
Added on March 5, 2012, 10:34 amAll things like laying tiles on steps, table top, and like raised level (for shower area), and mosaic are sometime charge difference or lump sump. Even if you want special design on the parking porch it may charge difference (like in center make a star). This post has been edited by weikee: Mar 5 2012, 10:34 AM |
