I get the quotation that the labour just lay tiles on floor/wall is RM3.20/ft2 excluded hacking and all material like cement, sand and tiles. Is it reasonable price? the quality also good because the contractor bring me to his project show to me. Please advise too. Thanks

the price will be ok if the range between RM2 to RM3 per Ft excluding materials. it should be cheaper if more work to be done.
a good quality tiles like white horse should cost around 5.50 to 6 for the 1 x 2 tiles, and guocera much higher around 7. bear in mind make sure the tiles is fully coated, not half to have a longer life. which area are you planning to lay tiles? whole house or just the parch? Added on February 21, 2011, 2:19 pmone small lorry (maybe 1 ton) of sand should cost around 3 to 400 and each cement should cost around 15 or 16...so, dont let the contractor cheat u... beside tiles, cement, labour to lay, another major cost is tile adhesive cement & latex admixture (SUSU)..

QUOTE(damario1928 @ Feb 21 2011, 07:43 PM) Wow that alot of info I learnt today! oh..the tiny stones are called pebbles-wash. normally you see this in resorts...very balinese..Plan to hack 1st and then not sure use parquet floor or tiles or don't know what they called if using small stone(tiny until look like sand) to lay on top of the floor. have to check all sifu's comment first lo.. I like that also...and I will do some in my garden corridor. They have different sizes one..I am also doing research on it at the moment. If done well, they are as good to maintain as cement floor but looks much nicer. And if some part crack or pecah...it can be easily mix apply with cement again.. |

After reading this thread I felt the quotation I got is so expensive!
I have bathroom totalling 350sf floor+walls and the contractor wants to charge me RM2800 for labour + hacking. That works out to be RM8 psf : ( Although he mentioned that water proofing will be done, still ... Do you guys have any contractors contact that can do a more reasonable price?? QUOTE(1ullaby @ Feb 28 2011, 06:53 AM) After reading this thread I felt the quotation I got is so expensive! not necessarily the contractor overcharge ... 'koz if they're contractor of good workmanship, they would use enough material to make sure the job is done properly and the outcome meet or above client's expectation ..I have bathroom totalling 350sf floor+walls and the contractor wants to charge me RM2800 for labour + hacking.
