For your car porch, make sure you go for at least the homogenous tiles. Save you headache later; after your car tyres go over them, causing scratches, etc

I hope there are homogeneous tiles or lappato/rough/stoned surface that is within the RM2.50 price range. Txs again guys. Havent asked where the contractor gonna get the tiles but from what i read, contractors do get some discount when buying tiles directly.

yes, but 2x2 for rm2.50? it doesnt even seem possible. even a 'reputable' grade B tile is around rm7-8. AFAIK, cheapest tile would be polished and white/cream tone. other surfaces = more expensive. guess lady luck is on ur side

If RM 2.5 per Sqft, and a 2x2 will be RM 10. If that is the case possible but don't expect good color, finishing and nice looking.

If budget about RM 15 to RM 20 for a 2x2 can open up a wide variety.

If you find one that is out of the agreed price range, then just top up... Don't save on tile quality. Not worth it.

Hi,

Need some advise here.
Currently, I receive renovation quotation from a contractor, but they never really indicate/stated clearly their labour / material cost (sqf or sqm) for tiles or skirting. I do notice that earlier post, some of you all did received a clear quotation from the contractor stated RM ?? per sf or sm

If those contractor did not stated clearly, does that means that they are not reliable?
But when I do the maths, some of them giving high quote.

Yes, it is lump sum.
And they (2 contractor from 2 different company) told me, it is a standard quotation. And they said, normally, contractor who did the house renovation, will not provide the details.

Is it normal or only certain contractor will provide the details in their quotation?

Added on November 5, 2011, 9:26 pmAdditional info

1) To lay 7' high with 1' x 1' wall tiles at new kitchen for 730sq.ft is RM 4870 (without tiles)
And it is without any details @ no breakdown details (eg: how much is the workmanship, cements, etc)

2) To lay 1' x 1' floor tiles at new kitchen for 332sq.ft is RM 2490 (without tiles)
And it is without any details @ no breakdown details (eg: how much is the workmanship, cements, etc)

Is it expensive?

You did not state clearly what is the detail scope of work.
Is it a new wall? If it is an existing tiled wall, is the contractor required to remove the existing tiles and plaster before installing the new tiles?

Is it a double storey house. smile.gif

Sifu2, need some advice b4 i confirm wit my kontraktor.

Want to renovate my wet kitchen 11'x5'.

- Lay tiles on my wet kitchen walls 5' high - one wall got big window, another wall 1/2 of it is window too. Now the walls are cement only.
- Also hack & lay new floor tiles.

He quote me lump sum 2,000 for workmanship. Is it reasonable ? (As i also ask him to do concrete kitchentop, he is already charging me 1,100).

rate is around rm3-4/psf for 1x1 tiles, rm4-6 for 2x2 tiles..so u can just multiply the area needed to be tile. In tiling, usually the 'window' area is included. doesnt sound fair rite? just give and take.

Wah, big windows not worth it then but have to admit doing the tiling around frame is very tedious smile.gif Hmm.. he is overcharging then. After calculate based on psf shld be abt 1,700 up to ceiling. His price for doing 5'H only.
Thanks again kuching nod.gif

Firstly, Beware of this Indonesian conman contractor Falto Warsito Yudya.
Tel:0137893835 / 0167489787
Absconded with people's money and left a mess behind.
Disappeared and victims looking for him if he is still in Johor.
Anyone with info can post on http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003102748980.

Secondly, what you have said is not true.

Because you are not aware of their nature. 9 out of 10 are going to be your nightmares.

Go and read my post in the http://www.facebook.com/profile.php?id=100003102748980.

The moment you give the work to them, you are snared. CH workers do not give you the grief that Indonesians give you plus their workmanship definitely sucks. The good workmanship that you may see is only in the beginning to con you in letting your guard down. Everything that an Indonesian worker produces, you must personally look at them when they do or you cannot imagine what is being covered.

I am like you, race and nationality blind until this painful experience with this conman and the rest of the Indonesian workers. Sorry mate, you are dead wrong.

Please share my post to warn others. Thank you.Attached Image Attached Image Attached Image
