I assume the tiles less than RM15 (for 2x2) are not porcelain tiles?  When I got mine, even my cheapest Niro Granite porcelain tiles is already about RM25 for 2x2.

Where did you get Niro? looking for niro or Gocera for my Dry and Wet kitchen. Is it at Builder Mart?

We have heard a lot about Niro tiles in this forum and I wonder if anybody heard of Taicera or Kita tiles by Opsiprima before and know of their tiles qualities?

Was looking at some Feruni tiles yesterday at the Home Furnishing Fair.  Price pretty competitive but I was told that the products are from OEM China and Vietnam.

Wonder if anybody had problems with their product before?
*
I find their price more expensive than Niro. Their product more on designing and able to cut to difference size.

Most tiles are from China now. QC most important. Feruni I can't comment too expensive for me to use. My house using China, Vietnam, and India tiles from Super Ceramic + Niro for floor. All Grade 1.

Added on August 13, 2011, 8:21 pmBy the way I dropped by niro and guocera showroom today. Niro.has awesome.deisgns!! But their price is super awesome too.. Rm13+  for 1 by 2 is kinda one of the cheapest one by 2 they offer. Can pengsan. Guocera tiles ok ok but how come their shiny flooring looks like uneven kinda got waves in reflection..is that normal?

Go to Buldermart, they give good discount for niro. But on average is still around RM 5.5 - 6.5 / sqft.

Hi Guys,

I've decided to buy my own 2x2 tiles (prob from White Horse) and the contractor has agreed to charge RM4.50 which incl sand, cement and susu.

I think its fair cos the area mentioned 312 sqf.

Pls adv

Think about that price. Mine is 4.8 for floor, and 3.8 for wall. Done by this Chinese contractor.

Hi all

Wish to check if the price below is reasonable or not.

I wish to level my back yard ( currently is soil with grass 180 sqft. ) to cement with 1x1 tiles. The price around RM 2200. It is reasonable? Anything I need to take note?

Thanks in advance.

Hi, anyone know where i can cut tiles? I just need to cut few pieces.

I'm afraid contractor can't do clean cuts.
*
Clean cut either use high pressure water cutter using cnc, or like someone say using laser cut. Wonder if they want to do small quantity.

Guys,

Just some info.
I recently bought tiles from Super Ceramic at Jalan 222.
Quite pissed off with the lady working there.
While choosing the tiles, she kept pushing us to purchase in carton quantity (box by box) which meant we'd be buying extra.
Concerned that we will be saddled with a lot of extra tiles, we kept asking her - are we allowed to return the extra tiles if it's too many.

She said if it's tiles that she have to specially order or tiles on special discount - then no returns.
Then she said, if it's tiles that they have in stock in their stock and returned by unopened cartons, she will accept.
So we thought, that it's reasonable that we can only return tiles which are not opened and purchased most of the tiles by carton.
And of course, there's extras.
So today, I called her to arrange for a return.
Guess what?
She denied that she said she will allow returns and that the receipt/ invoice clearly stated no returns, bla bla bla..

Then when I quoted what she said to me that day - sentence by sentence, she backed down and say she'll accept the returns at an extra charge.  mad.gif

I really hate people who say just about anything to make a sale.
Terrible service!!  shakehead.gif

I brought most of my tiles (except Niro) from them. So far the service is reasonable, she help me source some tiles which i short of. I did not recall they say can return, she advice for Lori delivery is better to buy in box cause loose pieces may drop and crack during transportation. Only Mosaic she advice can buy loose pieces cause is very expensive, and packing is smaller.

Is good to have some spares not sure how many spare you have, some i have 1 box of 6, some only few pieces.

If buy @ HQ, they will not give you good price. All follow the rules. Distributor have distributor price, reseller have reseller price, Contractor have contractor price. Also another disadvantage you only have one brand selection which may limit your choice and budget.

Large place like ipmuda, Super ceramic they stock common tiles and will be able to give you a good discount, with more option to choose from.

Of course during Niro have warehouse sales (maybe other brand too) you get better discount. E.g. I got my Niro with 28% discount, while outside is about 23 - 25%.

Wall can use softer like ceramic tiles. Floor you make sure is hard type. The seller will advice you.

If area are small use 1x1 or 1x2 is good. 1x2 for wall is also nice.

Noob here...wanna know if there is any difference between Grade A china made porcelain tiles (polished) worth abt RM10 and other tiles that are double the price? Sales ppl say all are same Grade A n i cant tell the diffference. Plan to buy over 250 pieces of 2x2 tiles n therefore budget is crucial. Hope some sifu can help. Im from Cheras anyway. Tq
*
Grade A mean more symmetrical cutting, less variance in color between same batch of tiles, less "pregnant" issue.

Do remember, Grade A does not mean all quality are the same all grade A tiles., Grade A Tiles "X" that cost RM 15, may be difference between Grade A tiles that cost RM 10.

The seller can advice you. Some tiles cost cheaper even is Grade A because it use have difference color, or polish level are difference.

Hope I am correct.  From what I understand, you can use any tile on wall but not floor but there are some ceramic tiles for floor also.  Of course porcelain tile is better and more durable for floor.  If you want those that still gives you same color when chipped, then you have to go for full body type.  And this one is super expensive (to me aje.).  Any other types, chip, sure can see color difference no matter how light the color is.

I was thinking of getting some cheap RM10 porcelain for my bedroom floor but from weikee's explanation, a RM10 ceramic tile might be better quality than RM10 porcelain.  Am I right weikee?
*
That not what i mean. E.g. Porcelain tiles may have difference level of polishing (say No Polishing and No protection layer:Level 0 - Level 10:best polishing and best protection layer). Brand M RM 10 for a Grade A 2x2, the level is 3, but Brand N RM 18 for a Grade A 2x2, the level is 8.

You get what i mean?

So the real question here should be QUALITY rite? But thats the problem im facing with these unbranded made in China tiles...it does not come with any quality guarantee. Price wise it is so tempting but whereas the branded ones cost more. Sigh!
Thank you ppl for ya kind reply!! rclxms.gif

Ask the seller, and do visual comparison. IT sure have difference. During my tiles shopping time I ask, and do visual comparison. Some cheaper grade A are less glossy. The sales girls (usually is girls don't know why) can advice you, I ask why is this cheaper she can explain if difference coating and protective material uses.

Hi,

I need advise here. Due to my existing floor tiles "pop" out, now i need to redo my living room tiles, around 500ft. Contractor quote me RM8,000. This  cover dismantle all existing 2.5x 2.5 tiles, labour, all material, rubbish clearance and lay new 2x2 white horse tiles. Is all this consider reasonable?
Or anyone of you have a nice workmanship Chinese sifu with reasonable price to recommend. Very appreciate it coz it quite urgent due to existing tiles "pop" out. Thanks.
*
8k inclusive of tiles? What is your selection range? Hacking tiles is not an easy job, got to knock it out, also remove the cement layer, Minimal will need to go all the way down to 1.5" to 2". If you know your selection range, brand and type you be able to estimate if its expensive or reasonable. Hacking and clearing should be in the range of 1.5k to 2k

My tiler is a Chinese sifu arrange by my main-contractor. Labor for 2x2 tiling + Sand + cement is RM5 for floor. A good floor tiles will range between RM 18 - 40 per pieces of 2x2.

RM 16 tiles, maybe your selection will be limited. I seen few whitehorse range so so only.

Price wise, i don't think is on the high side, maybe in the mid level. Hacking take a fair bit of work, and considering is Condo maybe more hassle to dispose waste.

Added on September 28, 2011, 9:01 amAnd carrying up the tiles too.

if i'm not mistaken, here's the 'market' price

break/clear old tiles =rm2/sq ft , 500x2 = rm1000
lay 2x2 tiles = rm6-7/ sq ft = 500 x 7= rm3500
2x2 tile = rm20 , rm20 x 125pcs = rm2500

Total ~ 7k. jus  a rough calculation, +/-, n off course depending on skill level.
*
You need to add variance for high rise building. Sometime it can only work at certain hours of the day, carrying and disposing is also another factor to add in.

Then i consider the price charge is fair coz RM8000 including skirting as well.

1 more question is that would it be cheaper if I buy my own tiles.

Thanks Guys. U all are great.  rclxms.gif
*
Yup, cause all additional work like skirting, edge, step, tiles on concrete are charge by lump some. And Mosaic too
