I think SGS 2 will be priced the same as SGS when it was first launched....most likely Maxis will have the exclusive rights for the first few months...again

If they price too high, they can't compete with the rest...

BTW, I flashed to MIUI for a few minutes and now back to Doc's ROM XWJS5

Guys, anyone here owns both the blackberry and the SGS? i own a bb and i am so used with their push notifications and the ease of opening an app straight away right after getting a new notification. Is the notification system on the SGS equally good, for people who have used both the SGS and bb?
Because, to me notifications are very important and i want a phone with a good notification system and i want to open apps like fb, twitter, whatsapp, etc with ease once i get a new notification.

Agreed. Point of attraction of Android phones are price range and form factor. I don't see how common users will end up with 3k SGS2 rather than an iPhone.

Haha I tested for a whole day, really happy with how smooth it is. The smoothest rom ever on a SGS! thumbup.gif BUT, sdcard mount doesn't work. I'll wait for when it works I'll use it daily..

I forgot to change the language when starting, so ended up all the menu is in Chinese...and I don't know how to read...haha...

Actually, the main reason I flash is to look see look see only...it is not fully functional yet....cannot detect SD card and no 3G data connection....

I had a BB (Curve 8900) for about a year before moving to SGS. Push notifications are best on BB with BIS, nothing really compares to it. Android's notifications are close but not the same experience.

Most apps' notifications on Android are due to polling, i.e. check every xx interval of time depending on the app. A small number of apps do true push - gtalk, whatsapp, gmail, foursquare (latest version), facebook (official client perhaps, I dunno because I use tweetdeck)..

Battery life on BB is also generally much better than on the SGS on full-time 3G/HSDPA link except for the latest BB Torch 9800 which has pretty poor battery life too. Web surfing on SGS is very much better than on any BB phone, though.. smile.gif

Nevertheless, opening apps upon receiving notifications are just as easy on Android as on BB. And let's not forget that there are much fewer apps and games on BB platform than on Android.

Any of you guys using Doc's ROM XWJS5?

I kept getting Force Close for the Gingerbread Keyboard. I have to delete the GBkeyboard.apk. Now using Swype.

Anyone know how to get the Gingerbread keyboard apk for XWJS5?

I tried to extract Darky's ROM XWJS5 but couldn't find the Gingerbread keyboard APK in the system/app folder...

Thanks bro, I will check it out.

Will it replace the stock Samsung keyboard? or just an additional keyboard option beside Swype and Samsung Keyboard?

Thanks
