Hi guys, got a couple of questions..
What do you guys think at the chances of a Electrical/Electronic fresh graduate degree holder to enter Oil and Gas industry?
Anyone here is holding a E&E degree and are now working in O&G industry?
Any answers would be much appreciated.

If u might consider slb or shell as one of the top notch, no, 1st class is not a requirement. exxon, yes, 3.5 n above, last time I check. What's important is u get the interview and impress them that u hv the quality they're looking for. I'm a second class upper only. They're not interested at all on that during the interview. U just need to get shortlisted. Show ur passion.

Also say hi to .. oh crap i forgot his name again! >>< the Iranian dude in Labuan. Will you be under wells campaign for next year? I believe the campaign will star next year in March for that. They'll probably have meetings with Shell in a month or two about it.
So u're actually under a trainee program and not paid a salary? hmm...

And during my last try, I managed to land an interview and they hired me on the spot. I had no experience before and there was no technical questions at all during the interview. So that was luck and right timing. haha All I can say is to keep trying and maybe one day you will get your chance.

Any answers would be much appreciated. As far as i'm concern..E&E grads have a great chances of entering O&G industry..regarding your results... yes..if ur top students you can aim for client companies..but if you dont, you still can join contractor or sub-contractor.. the starting salary might be not as high as if you join shell or exxon..but you'll gain valuable experience that you might not get at client's company..such as technical/hands-on skills... and, after few years..you can join top companies in the industry..as you have the experience..and that time you're salary will be

I notice that forummers here only aim for BIG names and well known major players in the oil and gas industry and doesn't have a very good knowledge and awareness on lesser known O&G companies. Little do you know that these lesser known companies are more prone and likely to hire fresh grads compared to the big kahunas like Shell, Petronas & Exxon Mobil.
Also, fresh grads shouldn't aim for operators only and instead focus your energy more on service hand companies eg Geoservices, Baker Atlas, Halliburton, FMC, Cameron, Gyro, Scientific Drilling, Weatherford, Scomi (Malay's favorite company), MI-Swaco etc. These companies are good career launching pad and forget about slugging it with ten thousands of candidates in SLB and Shell.
Good luck hunting!
