err.. how many times did you apply through their site? do they give quick response? i did apply too a week ago but still got no response from them. Btw i'm graduated with Bachelor's Degree in Marine Engineering. Do you think there will be any chance for me to work in this field? Almost a month and still unemployed...have been sending resume all over the place (o&g, shipping...etc)..still not getting any response. haihz..

This guy was requested for my CV during OGA 2011 last month. But i didn't submit it, still waiting for the right time to jump.

For electrical dept, almost all staffs are my ex-colleague. 

When I joined my first company, I was getting RM2K per month, can't even afford to buy a car so borrowed my mum's kancil for work. Went through all the training, eagerly accepted all the work/project given and basically hunkered down and did my job.

After 5 years, salary was around 4K per month after 3 promotions (which was rare) and got assigned to do those reorganization project. Learned that networking is extremely important in the O&G cause, let's face it, it's a small group of people with the same skill sets.

Got my first offer at 5 years experience from a contractor, was a bit reluctant coz the pay increase though significant was only around double my salary. After 10 years, got the opportunity to be an expatriate, so jumped on that offer and now reaching my 15 years experience soon.

Now with Malaysia experiencing a sharp drop in Oil Production and with so many Malaysians with experience out of the country, the Operators are seriously recruiting. I have an offer that is almost similar in package to what I am getting right now and I can return to Malaysia. Nothing beats working in Malaysia. In this industry, your value just goes up and up .... and I am seriously tempted to returning.

Welding engineer, go the NDT route and abseiling then go freelance, u get daily paid and get onto contracts. A friend of mine who went that route a few years ago after i advised him is drawing in above of 370k per annum and he is only 27 yrs old.

As for entry into the OnG sector, ESPECIALLY in miri, Yes you do need someone on the inside, preferbly not family. I only decided to work in Miri after more than 15yrs after my dad retired, and STILL i have to live up to his name. Every marine contractor and even shell still remembers him DAMN!. But if you guys are looking for a way in, do drop me an e-mail with ur resume of course and i'll ask my friends and see if they're in terested. I'm not offering anything solid, but just to get you noticed. I have a very large network, where even shell n petronas staff ask me to help them get jobs elsewhere. I should open a head hunting agency! lol. but i love my job here! If you are interested in short term projects also I can arrange, I do not burn bridges and always keep in touch with my former colleagues as I was freelancing till a few years ago.

yup fresh grads are always welcomed into the OnG world. the only difference is will those grads be willing to work or not?

I am not sure which office. They called back just now telling that the interview will be in Kch this 14th. No they didn't mention for what project,but I applied for graduate FE. And I got another interview with SGS too, will be based in Labuan, for flow assurance engineer. If I get any of these jobs, guess I won't be staying in Miri. So far local  Miri companies rejected my applications. No clue why, all the interested companies are from other places. Weird.    I thought being a Miri citizen + degree in O&G would make it easier for me to work in Miri.

And yes, please do assist me in any way. I am new and I need gurus. 

what you guys need to do is network! That's how i got my job and subsequently more and more after that. Just remember be good at your job and dun play politics, that will get you noticed and wanted. I've been very lucky going freelance and kept getting offers month after month that i pick and choose which job to take up. Seriously guys, you really need to get out there and mingle with the people in the industry and network. Put yourself out there.

Really? Haha. Cab driver in miri is rich.tambang pegi morsjaya pun dah 20. Maka 5 mnit jak. 
yep slb. 1st stage is background checking only. I think I'm doing fine.. Its for FE position.
Not office. It was held in merdeka palace. I am sarawakian so thats why I think they do it in kch.
Ala..chill la..we dont know yet. I havent got the job yet. We are in the same boat. Two more stages for slb, and two more interviews next week. RNZ on monday and SGS on tuesday. Any advice on these companies guys?

any of you guys interested in short term projects? I have quite a few, I do have some of your c.v's and have sent them out, but apparently some were called up but not interested in short term projects i.e. 2 weeks to 6 months etc. Those are the important ones that stand outlah. Some of the jobs were for offshore pipelaying barge ( duration 3 weeks) gaji also ok nia, aisehman they pay the FE daily rate OO RM 400/day OO why lah dun want?! >.< please don just think of the big guns ok, the small companies are the ones that do projects that stand out, just think how many chances will u have to do pipelaying or pipe trenching? !>.< anyways, I just hope you guys grab any opportunity in future.

Kuala baram ka sis? I even apply fr technician position. That's how desperate I am. I just want to work so bad.
