Your understanding of how banks view CC debt is actually the opposite way. The most important criteria is actually not whether you can repay the debt, but actually how much they can earn from you. Since your debt level is zero, it means your ability to repay is too good and you are actually a very poor customer to the bank. The best customers to the bank are people who are unable to clear their CC debt but do not actually default.

oh i'm a very poor customer to ocbc sweat.gif
but maybank seems like 'begging' me to continue their card, offered free 3 years annual fee and TP for gst unsure.gif

I doubt it. They did say it was not recognized. His income is probably over 80k but it is not around 200k. Otherwise, he would have applied direct right? I think he is lucky he applied at the time when GST was introduced. Many canceled their cards so they probably see this new guy and take this as an opportunity to bind him. I guess the annual requirement is not as strict as the degree requirement. sleep.gif

One of the entry requirement is a degree but there is some leniency...that makes it higher than a degree. wink.gif It like doing an MBA. You don't need a degree either, they only look at your GMAT scores. rolleyes.gif

Because of this easy entry from CIMB, many banks including OCBC don't really recognise CL given by CIMB. That's why there were cases where CIMB Platinum cardholders were rejected by OCBC for a lower range product like OCBC Titanium MC.

There's one possible method coz I too encountered this problem.
At the point of your TI application, just don't be greedy and ask OCBC to grant you a much lower CL than your reference card. As for myself, I asked for a fraction of my limit to be granted to my OCBC TI.

And yes ... my OCBC TI is approved. smile.gif

Ask the agent or the bank officer to put a remark on your OCBC TI application regarding your CL request.
Perhaps not many asked this question coz when I ask the bank officer to do it he was rather shocked shocking.gif as he expected me to match or increase CL like 99.99% of the applicants would do.

I emailed Ambank for service tax waiver but they disallow as they mentioned those tax is payable to Gov.

They asked me to use 10k points to redeem for offset.

I would rather opt to terminate their credit card service.

Hopefully in future years they can waive it. Anyway, it is a move in the right direction by the Gov. There are more free for life credit cards. Even now for those who still have a swipe min for auto fee waiver, swipe xx times a year is so much better and it isn't as restrictive as having to swipe twice a month for a year. Beats not having to call to waive.

Well congrats, looks like OCBC not that "strict". I have read here that many people got rejected when applying for OCBC Titanum. Well guess it makes it kind of exclusive card sweat.gif

For those of you that got rejected, you would roughly have an idea why you got rejected e.g. have record of late payment for loans, or don't have adequate credit history for them to evaluate, over committed with housing plus car loan, total combined credit limit given by other banks higher than annual income etc. If you feel strongly that your application should have been approved by OCBC, then appeal to them stating reason(s) - make life easier for the processing officer to recommend to boss.

No need to wait 6 month. My first application to OCBC also being rejected. My salary is above the requirement. So I write official letter to OCBC to appeal. Now approved already thumbup.gif
