Applied on 28 May 2012 and installation today (05 June 2012).
Just finish installation for Maxis FTTH 10mbps
Bigger modem and bigger router, wireless without aerial....
And best of all.....RM118/month compare to Unifi VIP10 which cost RM199/month....savings of RM81/month

How come yours is superbly fast? notworthy.gif

Did they call you to tell you your new home number and then only call you again to fix installation appointment?
How is the procedure? Please share with us.

So does Maxis Fiber applies use VDSL  for high rise condo?

So the ping is it high?
*
I wanted to ask this question also.

My condo Unifi used to be on VDSL interleaved mode, so the latency to local servers is about 25-29ms. But I noticed nowadays, the latency has been reduced to 11-13ms. I think TM Unifi has switched it to VDSL fast mode recently.

The question here is, is Maxis going to deploy VDSL interleave or fast mode?

Agreed.
200ms is quiet decent for us sever compared to streamyx 300ms+
*
200ms is definitely a good ping for WoW and Diablo 3 players.

I'm not sure. For Unifi package, there are a lot of very good third party wi-fi routers from Asus and Microtek that can replace the default D-Link router provided by TM. Not sure if there are such a router for Maxis FTTH. If there is, then it will solve the issue of having your modem used as a public Maxis Hotspot.

QUOTE(DrPitchard @ Jun 5 2012, 01:10 AM)
Well, depends on your setup actually. For those living in high rise buildings, there is no chance at all to use dual phone lines. Once Maxis Fibre Home is installed, the TM line will be pulled out at the exchange point, thus, users will NOT BE ABLE to use that phone number line anymore, and together with that, no more streamyx. For landed, still possible, since it is a seperate new fibre optic line. But do take note that it will take 3-4 weeks for TM to process your cancellation request, thus, almost 1 month of wastage, especially those staying in high rise.

i am curious about the offer. 10Mbps, 100GB quota & rm118 mthly fee. what they mean by limited offer?

let say i have to queue up with my applications during offer period. then when the installer comes to fix up the services for my hse. i mean after maxis withdraw the offer. when it comes to my appointment. will i be slapped with rm200 onsite installation + rm218 mthly fee efective the day i commence services with maxis?

hi guys,

planning to switch over to this package but have some query in mind

1) the ip is private or public?
(based on dr pitchard explanation it seems it is defaulted to private IP but can request external IP by calling them)
- anyone have done this ?
- if you have requested the public ip, is the IP static or dynamic?

2) anybody using it for XBOX live ?
- hows the stability ?
- hows the ping/performance?
- what NAT do you get ?

Thanks guys

bro, its normal if you ping to server 8000 miles away...and getting 200ms ping is considered ok..correct me if im wrong....

Unless you the ping to server located in SEA, and you got 200++, then its bad

IMHO..lah.. maybe im; wrong
*
I think it actually depends on number of hops + route. The signal doesn't go straight to US, instead it goes through various backbones first before going into US and reaching the server. I may be wrong, but I think each time it switch backbones, it's considered a hop. It takes quite a few hops to get from Malaysia to the US. The more hop you need to take + distance of fiber between hops = higher ping.

QUOTE(kurogane @ Jun 5 2012, 01:03 PM)
Yes can, you will just have two fiber cables coming in to your home only.
*
Ah, okay.

*Grins at evil thought of also signing up for Maxis and then dropping a load balancing router linking UniFi, Maxis, and private network*

Nah, not really going to do it. At least, not this year.

QUOTE(Ruzumaki @ Jun 4 2012, 06:18 PM)
I received their phone call TwT
Too bad the maxis guy said my flat not under coverage!!!!
But my JALAN got coverage leh!!! My flat is at JALAN 4/140, Taman Naga Emas
I checked at both unifi and maxis webpage, all the landed house unit at my jalan is under coverage
But my flat at the same JALAN is not inside coverage?!?!? My flat is jz like arround 10~20m away from landed housing unit. I was like dafuq, Noooooooo?!?! TwT
I thought flat have more potential customer than landed house unit!!!!

Assume one housing unit got 1 family.
My area here got arround 8 flat,
7 Small flat with 5 floor height(8 housing unit each floor) = around 40 potential customer each flat,
1 Big flat with 9 floor height(12 housing unit each floor) = around 108 potential customer each big flat.

7 x 40 = 280 potential customer!!!
1 x 108 = 108 potential customer!!!
TOTAL 380+ potential customer!!!

My whole jalan only got 20+ landed housing unit. Why dun they target the flat but target on landed housing unit as flat have more family and more potential customer....
Why ignore the 380+ potential customer and go aim 20+ potential customer only?????

The maxis fellow said will help to log my request in demand list and send to some department?!?!?
And that maxis guy also add on said that I will expect to receive phone call from maxis within 3days. = ="
Which I seriously doubt that since I saw a lot of forumer in lowyat which waiting for phone call from maxis regarding to this issue was kena ignored.
Hopefully I can get maxis fiber ahh... Why they do business like this??
Got big group of potential customer they dun wanna to care, but only cater service for small group of customer who living in landed housing unit.
Moreover the flat is on same JALAN with landed unit which are under coverage and the distance is very very NEAR only (10~20m to my flat). Why dont include the flat inside the coverage also?? Not that hard rite, just pull the wire 10~20m more then cna get a lot potential customer d. TwT sobs
Im so sad TwT, heart breaking...

The idiotic thing about this is that for high rise building, they insist on using VDSL instead of laying fiber on the building. The coverage map is for fiber only.

I started calling their CS 2nd day, 3rd day, 4th day after i have registered and on the 4th day they called me regarding installation date.

I guess the more you disturb then then they will arrange your installation more faster, least you call will not be priority for them since you do not call.....

First you need 3 free plug socket, 1 for modem(provided/Supplied by TM Unifi installer) , 1 for Router(provided by Maxis) , 1 for phone(provided by Maxis)
Modem is lifetime warranty, phone & router is 1 year.

installation takes around 30 minutes for highrise building. No hacking and wiring needed.
