hi guys,
planning to switch over to this package but have some query in mind
1) the ip is private or public? (based on dr pitchard explanation it seems it is defaulted to private IP but can request external IP by calling them) - anyone have done this ? - if you have requested the public ip, is the IP static or dynamic?
2) anybody using it for XBOX live ? - hows the stability ? - hows the ping/performance? - what NAT do you get ?
Thanks guys

Its funny how Maxis implement ftth . I think they are the first company to have higher latency in their fiber network compared to their wireless broadband. LoL!!!
Just looking at the speed test result screen shots, I thought I mixed up the 2 threads .
Real sad, if this stay most likely will not proceed with the installation.

QUOTE(iZuDeeN @ Jun 25 2012, 05:29 PM) to be fair... im getting the speed... ~9mbps but the reason I upgrade is for both SPEED & LATENCY yes; to be blunt, Streamyx 512kbps works PERFECT with BF3; I can't even play at all on Maxis~ Exactly! Fiber should means higher bandwidth and lowest latency. I certainly don't understand why their own wireless broadband have much better ping result. What a joke! The main issue is, Maxis is not admitting there is a fault and most users (heavy downloaders) don't care about this as its not affecting them now. Sigh, looks like improvement will not be done since there's "no issue" for them. I think your comment certainly affirms my thoughts. Dr. Pitchard, can you let me know what is the procedure to cancel the application? Thanks

QUOTE(ronnie @ Jun 25 2012, 06:50 PM) Gamers vs Downloaders..... who will win ? Its not suppose to be a vs, don't u understand? Say only fiber but latency worst than wireless? Haha To me fiber should always have the lowest latency comparing to copper and wireless. Something is definitely wrong . QUOTE(Johannlo @ Jun 25 2012, 06:53 PM) aiyaa. unsatisfied with Maxis FTTH for gaming, revert back to unifi la. dont kacau the bandwidth. surprisingly i have no issues regarding maxis FTTH yet. luckily i'm not a hardcore gamer. Yeah, easy to say . Who wanna pay for the 2 years penalty? Btw, gamers use much much MUCH less bandwidth compared to downloaders, u ask them don't hog your bandwidth better

QUOTE(DrPitchard @ Jun 26 2012, 10:19 PM) yeah, more often than not. That's the way, if its good for people, especially gamers, they will be happily gaming away....I bet none of them will come here and say what rare items they found or they sold their legendary items for USD100. ok, sure. Anyway, just a soft reminder, the promo ends on Thursday. So if you are interested, I suggest you to be quick.... Drop me a PM, easier that way. Thanks So Dr. pitchard,is the high latency issue solved? I wish all Maxis cs has the ability to answer us the way you do by giving honest and factual answers, rather than giving robotic/bs answers which will make customer high blood pressure haha

call maxis to request lo ...
public ip should allow you to have better control of forwarding the ports that are required for your ps3 network to work properly
btw, does this thomson gateway comes with DMZ feature ? If yes, once you got your public ip, just put your your ps3 into DMZ . That should improve the NAT

(im no expert in networking) Means when you do the test, is your game running?
