I do see the reason why Maxis wants to impose the cap, but I personally feel 40Gig is a too low.

i think Unifi still pawns maxis.

Unifi at least can call few million TM's fixed lines FOC, but maxis only limited to maxis fixed lines only. The IPTV from maxis - 5 channels only??

I think can only work if Maxis offers Astro channels inside their iptv lor

but I like the fact that it has the ability to offer the service in TM's territory..  When there is a competition granted, improvement will come from either party..

RM128 for 4mbps , 30 Gig limit.

Not bad but hard to fight with Unifi RM149 with 60Gig limit.

What's the use of subscribing to a premium service when you are given an internal IP address?

Maxis had been making a lot of noise because I did not pay the RM158 being the "ADVANCE PAYMENT".  They even told me they are going to bar my line if I do not pay up?  I paid RM118 per month up to date, never fails, whatever I use, I paid.  But now they are going to bar my FTTH line because I did not pay the advance payment which is fully refundable upon my termination of this service (another term for DEPOSIT?).

Is it in their contract? if it is, then you have to pay.

My unifi contract is going to end in another 6 months. Is it possible to switch to Maxis Home fiber from Unifi after that?

http://www.maxis.com.my/home/pdf/home_inte...general_T&C.pdf

Look under Fiber Internet Services , item no.6

6. You accept and acknowledge that Maxis reserves the right to leverage onto your residential WiFi modem to
cater to the Maxis Hotspot service
which may be accessible by the general public who are subscribed to the
service. The Maxis WiFi Hotspot service does not increase your available bandwidth and will not impact your
internet quota nor will it cause degradation of the Service performance, security or risk issues to you.

Anyone any comment?

Hi, i just went to TTDI Maxis, and had a chat with a guy who worked there about this promotion.

Can the good folks of lowyat confirm/comment on this?

The person said:

1. the promotion last from 18/5 to 18/06
2. only for 10k subscribers.
3. the QUOTA system will be implemented on JUNE. <--- i seriously need confirmation on this. =x
4. There will be a difference between torenting at peak and non peak hours.

Yeap, you are right, just have to pull fibre cable. For the benefit of others who have very basic understanding of IT, my 'phone line' above refers to the a physical line, as some customers are confused if it is a fixed line internet or a wireless internet.

For condo, they will use existing phone line and won't pull fibre cable into your unit. VDSL into the riser only.

I am still under unifi contract how ?? Possible to sign up the package first and install it at much later date ? hu hu

1. For those who stay in condo using Maxis HSBB via VDSL, is the VDSL on interleaved mode or fast mode?

Unifi used to be on interleaved mode which adds up another 20ms to the local ping, but they have recently implemented fast mode which cuts down the ping to <10ms at my place.

2. Is it difficult to request maxis to give us a public IP address instead of private IP?

as we all know that Maxis is sharing the same infrastructure with TM.. so do u think that.. if TM does not implement the quota so do Maxis?.. As Im still wonder the 100gb can last for how long actually if they implement the quota and not sure it combine dl n ul or only dl itself.. u know.. as now im using the streamyx.. ya only 1mbps. but nvr need to worry about the quota XD..

Actually can someone verify the procedure for registration to Maxis FTTH for current Unifi users?

1. Terminate unifi first, then register Maxis FTTH, wait until installation date.

2. Register Maxis FTTH first, then given installation date, terminate Unifi

Yeah, why the ping so high? I am staying with my 5MB Streamyx.
*
I believe that is an expected latency. The further the server , the higher the ping. Under 300ms ping to US server is considered ideal if you attempt to play games hosted in USA (such as Diablo 3).

My friend in singapore also get about 200ms-250ms ping to USA battlenet server.

I think this is due to physical limit of light..

Can someone here do some ping test to Battlenet server in USA and some local servers in Malaysia? Those who are using Maxis HSBB via VDSL, can post the ping test to the local server?
