It is supposed to be lower. No idea why the local retailers are charging so much for it.AMD Bulldozer & Bobcat

BD, wit thins pricing, it actually meks no sense.
previously, even though phenom 2 loses to its competitor, it is made a popular choice by the price performance ratio. BD pricing just meks no sense at all! |

QUOTE(ALeUNe @ Oct 12 2011, 03:37 PM) I believe the price will be slashed soon. What I mean is that recommended retail prices in the US at least match SB for the most part. The retail prices here right now are ridiculous, that's all. With this kind of performance, the price will drop soon... very soon. |

Same applies. With such performance, I doubt sellers want to hold stocks. It could hardly sell if it's MYR900++. The longer they keep the stock, the more they lose. The price will be slashed to dump stock or make it "sell-able" again (i.e. MYR7xx). This post has been edited by ALeUNe: Oct 12 2011, 04:02 PM |

QUOTE(dma0991 @ Oct 12 2011, 02:55 PM) Nobody knows why AMD decided to do as such during design stages but a deep pipeline, low IPC and high clockspeed is akin to P4. Supposedly BD is a forward thinking design with instruction sets not available on old architectures, has not been fully used yet but it has not worked on their favor obviously. Now we all know for sure why Dirk Meyer and Rick Bergman was fired. and they are trying to stick large cache that take up a lot of die estate to make up the performance ground. Another dumb move. Since BD real strenght is about multithread. its probably a lot better to have 10-12 cores than having 16MB cache too. Like I said they could have done better by tweaking the Phenom II freqency/IPC and into 8 core than release this sh*t lol. This post has been edited by billytong: Oct 12 2011, 04:29 PM |

They will eventually lower the price after slow sale & this unconvincing reviews..... Otherwise you sellers will have problem to clear the stock. I only stock in low quantity only |

A real disappointment.. Why do they even bother to delay the launch for 3 months? For some same lame performance?
Really disappointed with AMD this time. With all the bragging prior to release, this is all they could manage. |

I pity those who held off from Sandy Bridge to get this.
Zambezi is just on par or slower than the Phenom II's. http://www.anandtech.com/show/4955/the-bul...d-fx8150-tested 10-15% increase in performance next year, while Intel promised Ivy Bridge will be 30% faster than Sandy Bridge. |

With all the bragging prior to release, this is all they could manage. This could be the reason. It was initially running @ 2.5GHz (3.5GHz turbo mode). The performance could be so bad until it did not make a single sense to market it at all. |

They almost always overstate performance figures, both AMD and Intel. IB will definitely be better than SB but it should be no more than 10% at most. The main focus of IB is lowering power consumption to compete with mobile sector and more improvement is being made to IB's IGP. Absolute performance have to wait till Haswell comes out. |
