You could try and disable the WAN-PPPoE setup + layer3 port (basically revert back to stock settings), then plug your dd-wrt router with VLAN tagging enabled into port1 and your dir-615 into port2 for IPTV and see if they both can run at the same time. This isn't possible on the Fiberhome because its configured to only allow 1 device per port at a time but the Huawei may be different.

Btw, I'm curious.. this is one of the setups I assumed was possible when I was fiddling with pr0d's Huawei but never tried out. It seems that you're behind double NAT now? Basically you have 1 public IP at the BTU and your PC now sits 2 private networks away from that. Does port forwarding on the dd-wrt work at all?
*
Yes, you are right I'm behind double NAT that's why I wish to have NAT+firewall only on my WHR-G300N

Actually before this, my setup was:
BTU LAN1 --> switch hub --> WHR-G300N WAN [VLAN2.500 with PPPoE dial-up profile] ->LAN/WiFi --> computers
..................................--> DIR-615 WAN->LAN4 --> STB IPTV

Ok, I'll try to disable BTU's PPPoE & Layer3, then connect as follows:
BTU LAN1 --> DIR615
BTU LAN2 --> WHR-G300N [VLAN2.500 with PPPoE dial-up profile]

It works as per above!! thumbup.gif

So it means we can just plug in our own router [PPPoE with VLAN?.500 tag] onto the Huawei BTU LAN2 directly!

Now the question is how to configure the STB IPTV onto the BTU directly without having the DIR-615, is it possible? hmm.gif

Hi Rivanzrp,

Pls check your PM, I got some good news on RB250GS & RB750G for you ! icon_rolleyes.gif

@klseet

Not possible from what I saw. You may be able to pull it off by telnet-ing into the unit, accessing priv exec mode and going into the Linux shell (yea, huawei is linux based despite the initial IOS-like interface you see tongue.gif) but I don't think you can save the settings permanently. It doesn't support bridge mode in its web UI sad.gif

Anyway, that's very good news for Huawei BTU owners. Fiberhome BTUs lock the switch ports to 1 device at a time so this is pretty much impossible for us early adopters sad.gif

I just got my unifi installed yesterday, but wireless signal is quite weak on 2nd floor (modem on 1st floor). I wanted to boost the signal via a new anthenna but the it is not replacable.

any solutions to my problem? I did ask around in digital mall and one of the shops advised me to buy a pair of wall sockets which cost RM200++. Way too expensive for me.....

If you have a spare wifi router lying around, use it as a wifi access point by disabling its DHCP server and wiring a LAN cable from it to the DIR-615. Unifi stock router has very weak wifi signal coverage.

Which is amazing, considering it has 2 antennas while my old DIR-3xx has 1 antenna and yet my old router is accessible from my room while the DIR-615 can't. Urgh.

@xiang49, I believe getting a spare wifi router is still cheaper than using those homeplugs. At least that's what I gather from the prices the sales guys @ Subang Parade gave me.

I plan to save some money, get a new wifi router, and turn the DIR-615 into a bridge VLAN switch as per rizvanrp's guide.

I believe all the issue on the DIR-615 we're caused by the customization of the hardware and firmware itself to work with UniFi out of the box. Or maybe it just the firmware? or just hardware? lol since I heard that in the retail market out there the H/W revision is totally different from what we're UniFi user's has been getting all along.

If you've done the bridge configuration on the DIR-615 to be used with your WRT54GL, leave it that way. If you flash the DIR-615 to dd-wrt you will lose IPTV and be unable to use your wrt54gl in the same configuration :3

Oh i see, alright thanks alot bro, and yeah, thanks for your guide too, never had the chance to thank you smile.gif

Would be nice to have a guide for custom router to access Internet only, in the event of DIR-615 Fails.

I really cannot bare with being disconnected from net.

There is a guide for that (dd-wrt), just apply it to a Buffalo DD-WRT flashed router or something biggrin.gif

new unifi user reporting in. The installation took almost 3 hours due to a problem with the wiring in my condo's riser room (according to them). Finally everything's set and ready - I'm on the VIP5 package. I have to say the DR615 router looks very flimsy. Will be applying the recommendations from rizvanrp in a bit.

Also, for existing streamyx customers, REMEMBER to immediately terminate your homeline and streamyx account after unifi installation, unless you want a nasty surprise at the end of the month...
