2 days Ago I fixed my voip by changing the phone number and password. Just now I rem the "jack" thing, but right now the real prob is I am not even sure what other setting that this culprit had touched as I do not have the original config backup for huawei to restore. The SIP console setting that Rizvan pulled is on fiberhome, not Huawei. I checked, didnt notice any other thing diff(perhaps I am still new on this area) but I still prefer to know whats an original setting of huawei suppose to be.

or probably would be nice that we have a security guide for all the BTUs

EDIT : because I dont really trust the original setting of BTU are secured.
*
Is it possible for people with Huawei BTU and have not have any VOIP problem share their TM net default config here? Then we can just change the phone number and password, or should it be other difference between different users? I also got the 'jack' thing..

oh crap i need to go home n fix that shit tonight... i saw the jack thing, but didnt know if its by default...

Removing "jack" doesn't really fix much. It's closing the barn door after the horse has bolted.

(1) The entry being there demonstrates that someone has had access to your BTU.
(2) If they can create a SIP entry, they can pretty much make a backup of your BTU config.
(3) The BTU configuration (which when saved is just a text/XML file) contains your SIP id and password.

So let's say you secure your BTU, and remove the "jack" entry.

A few months down the road, you notice some calls in your bill that you did not make. Then what?

Fixing the bigger issue is a network wide case; someone higher up in TM needs to address this. I would think at least they would need to:

(1) Do a proper audit of the BTU and ensure that there are no obvious backdoors.
(2) Change all the default BTU passwords to unique ones.
(3) Only when that has been done, change all the SIP passwords.

That's a major exercise, it needs someone with real guts/no ego issues to admit the problem and institute the changes from a higher level.

On our side right now, what is the best way to protect ourselves against having to pay for extra calls on our phone bill? Not just this month but in the future? Assuming we end up logging a billing dispute months down the road, what supporting evidence do we need to have established at this point? Do we write in to TM and to who and about what? Make a police report about a "break in" (that might actually get some attention, especially if the press is involved)??

I'm trying to find a common variable between all these users. Some have VOIP down + packet loss.. some just packet loss. So far most of the people who had their VOIP settings changed were on Huawei BTUs yet everyone lives in different areas under separate exchanges. It'd be cool if you guys can update that list with your BTU models too because this whole VOIP issue started when someone started fiddling with the VOIP settings remotely.. and at the same time people are starting to get corrupted downloads. Might be related, might not.

There is no way to protect ourselves because we cannot change any of the password, unifi, streamyxzone, voip.

I cant see a reason why is it soo hard for them to make a web UI for enduser to change their password.

Thanks to all sifus for giving me guidance, manage to temporary set my static IP address.

My VOIP is back.

I have two SIP users too

1st - It's unknown telephon number, retype my telephone number and password, apply
2nd- Remove user as 'Jack' as well telephone number.

Thanks again.

I hope that's the permanent solution and no more trouble on VOIP

Just lost all unifi services here in BRP, Sungai Buloh around 15:40 today.
Friend in nearby Damansara Damai also experiencing same thing.

Wonder if this is going to be an internet-less / phone-less raya ... ?

-- edit --

Phew! Everything came back to life 10 minutes later.

-- edit --

VDSL users still down though. Mine is on fiber.
Any VDSL'ers got theirs back yet?

Hi Guys,

I was affected by the VOIP as well. Did changed my password for the 3rd time already!

Something to share with you, jack account wasn't added by someone who broke into your modem. Infact, jack was already exists during Unifi installation. I believe this was added during firmware preparation but yet, the engineer forgot to remove that account before finalize the firmware.

If you make a system factory restore, i believe jack account will appear again.

Hi guys,

Just ran some test with "shahada":

1. download big file from: http://ubuntu.bytecraft.com.my/releases/10...etbook-i386.iso
speed about 420~500kb/s (with uTorrent & DC++ on), took about 25min to complete

2. download checksum file from: http://www.toast442.org/md5/
run MD5, drag & drop the big iso file into it, select "Generate Checksum" and click "Run", the result:
Attached Image

So I supposed it seem ok no loss packet right?
But when I run Pingtest the result:
user posted image

I ran few times, it's about 1~3% packet loss, so what does it means? Got packet loss in my case or not?? rclxub.gif

Btw, my current connection as follows:
HuaweiBTU[LAN1] ----> [WAN]Buffalo WHR-G300N (dd-wrt with VLAN2.500 tagging & PPPoE profile)
HuaweiBTU[LAN2] ----> [WAN]DIR615[LAN4] ----> IPTV

I'm keeping my RB250GS for emergency, meanwhile I just want to use that DIR-615 gao-gao first!! tongue.gif

Fiberhome BTUs only have 1 profile and if I recall when I logged into pr0d1gy's Huawei when we were figuring out how to do the PPPoE stuff.. I never saw a 'jack' account in there.

But you can ask him to reconfirm seeing as he's probably the first guy on LYN to make the BTU settings backup when he wrote his guide.\

In any case, BTU settings don't just change themselves unless someone on the network or at TM's side is screwing around :/
