Hey mamakap, may I know how much you paid for that linksys switch (I assume its L2 Manageable) ? I tried to untagged fe4 and connect IPTV directly to huawei modem without success. whenever I reboot that modem, VLAN and port automatically switch back to tagged 400/500/600. Can't change the configuration at all.
*
Some BTUs like the fiberhome pull their firmware + settings from a remote server every time the unit is booted so you can't save any settings on it sad.gif Also, I think the Linksys switch he's using is 76radius's old Cisco IDS switch which I configured as a VLAN bridge a month+ ago (?). It's around RM450-600+ retail so I think you might be better off just buying an actual managed switch with VLAN support.

I use HL106E, just need to make sure the power line is on the same phase and it transmitted well. As for noise... Don't really notice any.
*
I was told by Aztech ppl that noise only on HL280E for unknown reason. But fortunately once you turn on the TV you will not notice that noise anymore. I switch it off when I am not watching IPTV.
Made a comparison between SD in HyppTV and Astro, SD quality in HyppTV is much better and sharper compared to Astro. And another nice thing is you can time shift it for max 2 hours, COOL thumbup.gif

DId you try to plug it into a different socket? maybe the socket you use is a bit loose and arching and producing that noise..

If still got noise.... you only have a few solutions...

1. Return to Aztech and get a new one
2. Switch the TV volume louder.. other people in the house wont be happy...
3. Put a cotton bud in your ears.. you'll probably have a lot of missed calls...
4. Dont use it at all... Got no IPTV lorr...

Cheers bro....

hahaha, i like your options.
Anyway, yes i have tried it in different locations and the results are the same-noisy. I bought a pair, for some reason, the other one is OK. I have exchanged once already and the new one is as noisy. I have called the Aztech technical support and they have tested few themselves and according to him they are all noisy. He noted that it only happen to HL280E and not other slower speed model. You don't need to crank all the way up the TV volume la, as soon as you switch on the TV you will not notice the noise liao. So, it is not ideal but tolerable i would say cool.gif

In that case I have no choice, I'll go down to Singapore and get L2 Netgear smartswitch. I think that's the cheapest I can get. other than that, TP-Link L2 switch looks like another cheaper alternative...

Oh forgot to thanks to you too. blush.gif The IDS switch is far more better then the Dlink, I also use it to do other connection, beside just for Unifi. I recommend people to get it, if they have the budget. tongue.gif

It's to perform the VLAN tagging/untagging so you can replace the DIR-615 and still have IPTV + Internet access. No need to rely on TM hardware biggrin.gif

Not only can you run Unifi through your DD-WRT router, you can run DD-WRT on the TMnet DIR-615 G1 router. After looking at some FCC documentation, I realized the chipset (CPU, RAM, FLASH) were exactly identical to the D-Link DIR-615 D1. I took the plunge and reflashed the TM router and YEAHHH biggrin.gif I spent over an hour getting the DDWRT PPPoE daemon to connect over VLAN ID 500. I know how to do this however I'm still testing the stability and VLAN support.. so no guide yet (I don't want you to screw up your router). If this is going to be used by other Unifi users, IPTV has to work flawlessly with the dd-wrt firmware.

Will continue my testing later tongue.gif

UPDATE @ 2.00AM : This is f**king sweet shocking.gif

UPDATE @ 2.06AM : MRTG graphs, full Linux console, SSHd and telnet support, bandwidth graphs, full control over connection limits, system load and status information.. AHHHH Unifi 20mbps + DD-WRT on TM DIR-615 G1 == *orgasmic*

QUOTE(ywkwy @ May 8 2010, 11:54 PM)
it is impossible for dd-wrt to make it work at the same time for both the internet and iptv?
*
Hi rizvanrp,

Thank you for the dd-wrt sharing!

Instead of re-flash the TM's DIR615, can we use other dd-wrt routers?
Currently I have Buffalo WHR-300N and WHR-HP-G300N flashed with dd-wrt working perfectly on Streamyx, I really hope to use it for UniFi.

I read here: http://www.dd-wrt.com/wiki/index.php/Setti...ireless_traffic
Is it confirmed that the IPTV still won't work with this setting?

IMO experience, the Buffalo series routers have some issues when running with PPPoE over VLANs while running on dd-wrt. You may experience connection drops or websites not loading.. there's a script to fix that though.

It should work fine for internet connectivity but as for IPTV.. it requires the Port based VLAN page to be fully accessible. I think Linksys dd-wrt flashed routers may fully support this but I was never able to get it to work properly on a DIR-615 dd-wrt flashed router since this function did not work properly. Try it out when you get Unifi, it may work biggrin.gif

Yes, I was having frequent PPPoE disconnection & self-reboot problem on the WHR-HP-G300N [Atheros chipset I believe] flashed with Buffalo's version of dd-wrt [around May'10]. However, after flashing with BrainSlayer's Jun'10 release, no such problem and I can BT straight out for days ....

Whereas for the WHR-G300N [RaLink chipset I believe], I never encounter such problem before.

Can we just buy another DIR-165 to flash with dd-wrt?

I'm just a basic user of dd-wrt, no experience with those advance setting like VLANs.
Appreciate if you could share more VLAN & Networking setup under the dd-wrt, thanks in advance! notworthy.gif

So is it confirmed that this product can replace DIR-165 and IPTV still work?
Is it difficult to setup and any idea where can we get this product?
