Hi there,

I just registered with TM agent last week. Wonder normally how long need to wait the TM guy call for appointment or installation ?

can the IPTV box work wireless ?? reason cos my condo phone port is at living hall and my TV is at bed room.

If i need to pull cable from living hall to my bed room. should i pull Phone cable or network cable ? which carry more stable signal.
thanks =)
*
You can transmit signal from ur router to ur IPTV thru wireless. But you need 2 extra routers (as what I have tried before)
1 router will act as AP to transmit signal from ur DIR-615 to the 2nd router that act as repeater bridge.

DIR-615 - Router 1 (AP) - Router 2 (Repeater bridge) - IPTV Box

This is what I do for my IPTV.

Or you can use homeplug..Much reliable compared to wireless..

Nope la..They ™ send SMS from landline number (03XXXXXXXX) to UniFi handphone..
I just received the SMS..There's no need for me to turn on the function..and to all, if u haven't notice yet, please untick your Remote Management from your DIR-615, or someone might stealing ur UniFi username and password easily (tried before)..

Hi there,

I'll be getting my UniFi installation soon and would like to seek some advice here:

1. What's the maximum distance allow between the "Fiber Optic Termination Point" and "Fiberhome Unit" ?

2. What's the maximum distance allow between the "Fiberhome Unit" and "D-Link DIR-615" ?

3. If without any Cat cabling or HomePlug to the "IPTV Set", is it possible to configure the DIR-615 LAN port4 [for IPTV] to allow wireless bridging from the "IPTV Set" ?
[Say, attach an AP router to DIR-615 LAN4, then attach IPTV set to another wireless bridging router?]

4. Has anyone managed to replace the DIR-615 completely and self-configured other routers with the IPTV still working ?
[If I'm not mistaken, the ASUS RT-N10 stock firmware has some kind of setting for IPTV on specific LAN port, hope to get some setup advice here.]

5. [if yes to Q4] Has anyone managed to use dd-wrt on which router model and what kind of setting is required?

Sorry if I've asked repeated questions again, appreciate some experience sharing from you guys here, thanks in advance!  notworthy.gif

Hi klseet,

I will answer ur question number 3:

Yes. It is possible to attach the DIR-615 to AP router, and IPTV to Repeater Router. I have done this setting by using 2 DD-WRT installed router (WRT54G).

My Setup:

DIR-615 ->WRT54G (AP) -> WRT54G (Repeater Bridge) ->IPTV

i had accidentally reset dir 615 setting, did someone has the default pass for pppoe username?
tm technician didn't give any password to me...
*
Each user have different unique password.

Check your email. TM should have sent the confirmation slip to your email that contain all the details (username, password etc)

Hmm, I am thinking of the following connection scheme, if it works?

BTU <-> RJ45 ethernet cable(WAN port) <-> DIR-615 <->RJ45 ethernet cable (LAN port) <-> WAG120N <->wireless<-> PC/MAC
*
Yeah..I will work that way..

i have just installed unifi yesterday, i also find that the signal is quite weak on 2nd floor. can i use my old belkin G modem + router? or must use only router only in this case? will the connection speed decrease or sumting? another question, i didnt managed to get the router access from the TM technician, can i just access it thru 192.168.0.1 or every unifi modem have their own address in order to disable the remote management? sorry for the nooB questions.
*
The default address for DIR-615 is 192.168.0.1..

Username : operator
Password : telekom

Username : admin
Password : telekom

thanks for ur answer on this bro, btw is it either one or must enter both? another thing is, is there any significant different by using LAN cable connection and wireless connection? because the TM person told me wireless is better in Unifi case? is that true? as far as i know LAN cable is better rite?
*
Operator acc give full access to the router, while admin acc give limited access to the router..
Most of us use operator account to adjust the setting inside the router..

You can change the router password inside the router..Forgot which tab..

As between wired and wireless, DIR-615 is known to give weak wireless signal compared to other router (from what user comment here)..and of course, wired is better than wireless...

Anyone tried use a second wireless router as range extender?

Let say I configure:
Router A -> Modem,
Router B -> Router A as wireless range extender
IPTV->Router B (wired)

How is the performance of the IPTV? Smooth?
*
Yes..I have tried this setup to try transmit my IPTV thru wireless environment.

BTU--->DIR-615--->WRT54G (AP)--->WRT54G (Repeater Bridge)--->IPTV

The performance is good (AP at the 2nd floor, Repeater Bridge at 1st floor).

Do note that my AP is connected to DIR-615 Port 4 and I disable DHCP server on my AP and Repeater router.
