You mean like a modem where the users can insert the sim card and surf the internet? The speedtest result i show above is using the CSL modem.

dont expect anything higher for upload.

it's a network limitation. umobile is on hi-speed downlink packet access (hsdpa) only.

I see. Does this only happen to U mobile only?

My Digi Prepaid Internet Limited Edition can have an upload speed same as the download speed.

yes

different service provider has different network capabilities and of course, different plans for consumers.

that is why malaysian broadband users are all scatterred/switching between telcos. it is like job hunting! lol

1 user has good Digi coverage does not mean I have good digi coverage. same goes to usage pattern. I may download more, you may upload more.

in the end, equal comparison between telcos are difficult. it is not apple-to-apple. it is more like variety-of-apples comparison.

try to compare them on equal ground:

1) mobile wireless/devices vs mobile wireless/devices
2) home wireless/devices vs home wireless/devices
3) fibre vs fibre
4) copper vs copper

seems like UM users are having problems since the launch of YES, could Wimax interfering wif UM signal or juz tat because of the Cap and FUP?
*
Come to think of it, you're right about the time when Umobile's network started to have slowdowns since the emergence of Yes's network.

I can confirmed that at my area here too.

Have you check your signal bar on your phone/modem when you log on to Umobile network recently compared to 1 month back?
Mine used to have 4 or full bars all the time but since 3 weeks ago as Yes launch date approaches, it has dropped to none or sometimes I could only get 1 bar only at most now.

There's a possibility of what you've said is true.
They used to have good signal strength in my area but most recently it dropped to almost none. Something must have occured.

My speedtest now never exceed 600kbps on U68 Prepaid even at 3am in the morning. Feel like dumping it already if this continues.Useless

I know my speed degradation or slowdown is due to this signal loss issue.

Why?

I walked around my house with my netbook connected using the MDMA program and found that areas where I could get the slightest improvement to signal strength in RSSI value, my speedtest resulted in faster speed.

Meaning in my room I would get like -105dBm(W) while outside my house I got a slight improvement at -99dBm(W).
When I ran the speedtest in my rooms the result was just 300+kbps while outside with higher signal strength, I managed to attained 800+kbps.

Time for Umobile's technical team to knock on Yes's doors for explanation.

if YES wimax interferes with umobile, why not to celcom/maxis/digi too?

or better still, affecting directly to P1?

if such interference will occur, would MCMC assign wimax spectrum to wimax operators, knowing it will interfere with existing telco giants (celcom or maxis)?

There must be some non standard compliance thing going on with Umobile getting affected because their assigned band is closer to Wimax's 2.5GHZ range.

We won't be able to confirm this unless we could get our hands on some sophisticated high frequency spectrum analyzers such as those from Anritsu/Agilent to map out the operators in your area.

No excuse for that because I proved to them that even with clear sky at the oddest hours(3am-5am) the slow speed is still consistent.

shouldnt they focus on hsupa implementation rather than introduced a new 42mbps in bts?

focusin on upload speed and and the response time is what make our browsing much more smooth.. nod.gif

this is my speedtest....location...wangsa maju 7th floor. been using this for two years at the same location/the same bed and on the same place.

those two above tested with opera 10.6 while these two below using ie9 beta..dont mind the ping though...but ie9 feels somewhat faster than my opera and firefox.

when tested, im using e1762 modem.on my new hp probook laptop..RSSI between -65dbm - -73dbm...and i noticed this number have slightly improved, a few months ago around -80dbm to -95dbm...
but of course la..this is just a speedtest...when dl can go around 250-330KBps...on other laptop...even though can achieve around the same figure, the response feels a bit slower..i think it's time to format it because of all junks installed....

ps: when tested at my work place in the strand kota damansara, speedtest can go around 2.5-2.8mbps..and the dl seems stable at around350-400KBps, which means i will always dl when im in office coz its faster.

dont feel any changes here because of these YES thing..maybe they're doing upgrades...or because their tower down, u got connected to other tower which is far.....this happened to me once..earlier this year..suddenly got only 2bars.and the internet became slow...called the cs..they said dont know...created a case..then they called back and told me that one of their tower down..only just a few hours down..
