Doubt it. My area, DiGi's 3.5G signal is full while there's barely Maxis 3.5G coverage.

tried digi, maxis/hotlink, p1 wimax, and umobile.

finally decided umobile has the best consistent performance (at my home and office).

will nvr try celcom until they give a better speed at an affordable price.

Ya each provider uses different base towers.. however I think all have trial period for u to return in case ur signal not good except for u broadband..

the RM100 will be rebated to u via 5 months bill.. so actually ur not paying any activation fee

same method as Maxis "free" modem too.

UB40 - RM100 activation fee + RM68 up front payment - Monthly rebate RM20 for 5 times, free modem, 2GB usage limit, after 2GB PAYU rate
UB68 - RM100 activation fee + RM68 up front payment - Monthly rebate RM20 for 5 times, free modem, FUP(5GB) usage limit, after FUP 384kbps

Both no contract.

the promo (RM20/mth) consists of 2 plans: UB40 and UB68 (existing plans)

it's just a clever marketing for users to pay only RM20/mth across 5 months.


in short, if you need a modem, get the promo. else, normal broadband subscription will be good.

prepaid/postpaid + ubroadband can be used on 3G modem too, but i think it's more targeted for mobile devices usage (phone).

laptop data-only sim is more of full-time broadband using 3G modem (for those who dont need voice plans).

if yes, use your existing Umobile prepaid and purchase UB68 plan. Test it for a month or two.

I am using Umobile since 1 month ago because of its mobile internet.. i think its not bad bcoz they concentrate on their 3G service.. and i am subscribing for the second month with UB20 for rm20 average speed.. maxis 100mb is RM18 and slow..compare them..maxis is really ****.. overcharged many of its customers with the mobile internet subscription.. i am one of the victims.. =/ umobile for me is quite good.. ^^

"hsdpa" is just the network capability.

performance is subjective to location, time of usage, and traffic (and many other factors).

if you consistently getting 30kbps (day/night across many days), better to call CS to find out why the poor performance.

only they can help to investigate and find out what's wrong.
