Who says?

My DiGi E1550 and CSL certainly can't authenticate with Umobile although it works with my Nokia N97 phone.

Umobile speeds have been degrading to unusable speeds lately at Pasir Putih, Ipoh here very recently. Used to get 2mbps or close to 3mbps easily but now you'll be lucky if you get anything above 1mbps.

I've heard lots of handphone shops around promoting the service and it's just time before it gets congested to crawl.
Lots of people in Ipoh now using their service because of the no commitment buy from the shelf and use it instantly prepaid plans they provide.

Other than data services Umobile is crap telco.
Don't even think of using their prepaid and postpaid for calls. They're bugged with many sorts of problems.

Here are some of them:

1) When you request for TAC codes from Maybank2U, RHB Internet Bankingand CIMBClicks, you'll NEVER receive your SMS at ALL! for the TAC request. - Phailed

2) You cannot enable miss call notification/alerts or voicemail individually unlike DiGi and Maxis. They come together and you'll have to take it as it is. - Phailed

Umobile notifications are slower than the rest of the other mobile telcos. somehow their direction is to concentrate more to mobile broadband recently with their launch of MIMO HSPA networks.

1) TAC delay most of the time are delayed from the banks. CIMB Clicks is the worst, next to M2U.

for me, TAC works fine.

2) MCN is working. last i call their CS, you can enable both missed acll and voicemail separately. Have you check with CS recently?
ipoh congested most probably because some % of ppl overusing the bandwidth. this problem happens to all service providers, not just umobile.

in my case, maxis is the worst. next is digi. p1 wimax almost unusable. celcom, nvr bother to try with their crappy plans/speed.
*
1)Confirmed that you will NEVER receive the TAC code after requesting with Maybank2U & CIMB Clicks. I don't have any problems with other telcos such as DiGi, Maxis and Celcom. The SMS will arrive at most after 2 mins when the requests are made.

2) This is confirmed by their CS over the phone. You CANNOT activate MCN or Voicemail individually as there is no function in their quick menu while there is in DiGi's and Maxis for self activation/management. The Cs will tell you that there's no way you can activate only 1 of them and they come with both activated.

too bad you are getting different experience.

Please are you trying to promote Umobile services here?

I don't hold back in my comments and reviews.

Umobile can play back all their CS phone conversations between their customers about how they inform their customers when MCN only requests are made to see if I'm telling the truth.
They tell them outright that you can ONLY enable MCN or Voicemail and both comes together in one package.

I'l dump Umobile very soon.

Their service in Pasir Putih, Ipoh has deteriorated to crap recently and they are not showing any interest to expand their 42mbps HSPA+ service to Ipoh nor do they show any interest in making things right.

From 3mbps last time, it dropped to 2 then 1 now on average I'm only getting like 0.5mbps.Who knows how much slower it'll become.
My usage volume is only less than 1.5Gb last month on U68.

Something is happening to Umobile's Ipoh network.

I've been getting like 0.4-0.6mbps speed for a week already when I used to get 2mbps+ speeds a month ago. This even happened during 4am in the morning.I supposed not many stay up that late but this is due more to Umobile allocating less bandwidth now to Ipoh area with theier 42mbps trials in KL.

Ah yes, I've been getting very slow speeds and very low signal recently here at Pasir Putih, Ipoh. Made a complain and Umobile technical team called up saying that they're upgrading and doing optimization to their networks. They're upgrading some areas to 42mbps for high demand areas and 21mbps for most other residential areas like mine.

The network will be up by 20th this month which will coincide with the launch of another wireless isp.
Looking at the ad above, that would mean HSPA would be available which allows speeds upto 7.2mbps and 5.76mbps upload.

Wow Umobile is indeed agressive.

Time to ditch crap TM and they can kiss my a$$ goodbye for not taking Ipoh residents in consideration. Their wired lines are just too useless to start with with that kind of bad administration and mentality they have.

this offer should hav came out earlier as i juz bought a Mifi for rm385 (used for 3 wks , rm300) doh.gif

btw, rm210 seems a good price, where can this package be subscribed?  only @ BTS?
*
That one comes with a LCD panel unlike the version which Maxis and DiGi offers which mean it's a better deal. RM210 upfront payment with RM20X5 rebates. It's way very good deal.

The U mobile will automatically renew the mobile broadband or not?

Digi has a bad habit of automatically renew the RM15/unlimited internet without notifying the users.
*
What do you mean by renew?

This is postpaid service.

If you refer to their prepaid service ,then No. They do not auto renew unlike DiGi.
So if you subscribed to prepaid and your data plan expired, your money will get drained with the pay as u use charges.

correction: only UB68 plan is "unlimited" = no extra charges after reaching FUP.

other plans, PAYU charges after quota, but with monthly maximum cap to RM176 only.
*
No, what I meant was if you're on prepaid plan and subscribed to U68 monthly. When the 30days is over and you unknowingly continue to surf, your credits will begin to deduct by pay as you use.

Umobile is quite generous in their FUP quota. They'll not cap you unless your area is highly congested and you're flagged as the top user by certain percentage in their network monitoring system.

Now Yes has spoilt everything and the industry.

Thanks to them other telcos now feel less threatened than before and might follow their exhorbitant pricing.

Malaysian broadband industry has no hope anymore.

Another issue is that they can't even get their damned website up.

I really hope that the other telcos won't follow that.
*
Umobile was about to launch a very competitive plan to equal Yes with their MiFi promotion and upgrades.

Now that Yes failed to turn heads, they instead changed the cap speeds after exceeding quota from 384kbps to 128kbps?

That's why I say they went and spoilt things..

seems like UM users are having problems since the launch of YES, could Wimax interfering wif UM signal or juz tat because of the Cap and FUP?
*
Come to think of it, you're right about the time when Umobile's network started to have slowdowns since the emergence of Yes's network.

I can confirmed that at my area here too.

Have you check your signal bar on your phone/modem when you log on to Umobile network recently compared to 1 month back?
Mine used to have 4 or full bars all the time but since 3 weeks ago as Yes launch date approaches, it has dropped to none or sometimes I could only get 1 bar only at most now.

There's a possibility of what you've said is true.
They used to have good signal strength in my area but most recently it dropped to almost none. Something must have occured.

My speedtest now never exceed 600kbps on U68 Prepaid even at 3am in the morning. Feel like dumping it already if this continues.Useless

yes, same here. signal is like missing half.

strange.
*
I know my speed degradation or slowdown is due to this signal loss issue.

Why?

I walked around my house with my netbook connected using the MDMA program and found that areas where I could get the slightest improvement to signal strength in RSSI value, my speedtest resulted in faster speed.

Meaning in my room I would get like -105dBm(W) while outside my house I got a slight improvement at -99dBm(W).
When I ran the speedtest in my rooms the result was just 300+kbps while outside with higher signal strength, I managed to attained 800+kbps.

Time for Umobile's technical team to knock on Yes's doors for explanation.

There must be some non standard compliance thing going on with Umobile getting affected because their assigned band is closer to Wimax's 2.5GHZ range.

We won't be able to confirm this unless we could get our hands on some sophisticated high frequency spectrum analyzers such as those from Anritsu/Agilent to map out the operators in your area.

May be use the most lousy P1 excuse , Tower get strike or heavy rain make the signal loss. laugh.gif
*
No excuse for that because I proved to them that even with clear sky at the oddest hours(3am-5am) the slow speed is still consistent.

dont feel any changes here because of these YES thing..maybe they're doing upgrades...or because their tower down, u got connected to other tower which is far.....this happened to me once..earlier this year..suddenly got only 2bars.and the internet became slow...called the cs..they said dont know...created a case..then they called back and told me that  one of their tower down..only just a few hours down..
*
Cannot be due to getting connected to other tower. How can that happen without fail for the past 3 weeks?I have surveyed every possible part of my home walking around with my netbook.

Called their CS already weeks ago and no improvement.

RSSI level only -107dBm (very weak- 1 bar only)

Speed test results:

I use to get full bars or 80% at least a month back. Now it's like Umobile network is crippled in Ipoh.

If this continues, I'll terminate their service soon.

week signal is one matter.

poor speed is another. most probably due to congestion on this small area. start bugging umobile to expand more basestation there to cope with ever increasing users there.
*
This is confirmed to be due to weak signal.

I walked out of my house and noticed some slight improvement to my signal strength. Did a speedtest on the spot and immediately saw improvements..
From 300ish speeds to 900ish-1mbps+ speeds.

Previously I used to get almost full bars with Umobile3G most of the time.Speeds used to be good with over 2mbps.But since Yes launch approaches, the signal in my area dropped from full to almost none.

Read the back pages next time.

MDMA profile shows UL 2048 & DL 4096
*
Check your signal strength and how many bars you're currently getting.

Your case is exactly like mine here. MDMA profile is also exactly the same with upload upto 2mbps
Umobile is upgrading their network to HSPA+ and will take some time before it stabilizes.
