Just installed the 4Mbps package yesterday. Blockbuster Deals.
SNR Margin (dB):Down/Up 29.5/16.8 Attenuation (dB):Down/Up 47.5/22.2 I am getting 175.145 ip. Is that acceptable? As far as I know, the attenuation should not exceed 40dB and the SNR margin should at least be 30dB. Correct me if I'm wrong. I'm in Langkawi, and about 2.37KM from the TM HQ. So far so good, no disconnection whatsoever. But now I'm capped @ 2Mbps. The installer said that TM need 48hrs to setup my 'port' for 4Mbps. Is that true @ common? They said that currently my area only have 2Mbps users. This post has been edited by coolmast3r: Sep 3 2010, 12:53 PM |

@sgpdsmss
Downstream data on your modem should read 4096 kbps @coolmast3r You're right about the attenuation... but as for the SNR, the minimum required for 4 Mbps is only 20db... But if your line holds steady, then good for you! What the installer said is kinda true... although your port would have already been set for 4 Mbps before he came, the system needs 24 hours after he 'activates' it to register the changes and give you your speed... |

Facing a very weird problem here. Whatever IP I got, there is sure certain web site which connection timeout. Taking asiasoft forum and lowyat forum as examples, IP type A (I categorized my IP into type A and type B), can access lowyat, for sure it cant access asiasoft forum. If I got type B IP then vice versa.
The ratio around 4 web for type A, 3 webs for type B, where else the other three are both accessable for both IP type... Anyone got any idea on the situation abovbe? |

Just now I re-checked my modem and it says: SNR Margin (dB):Down/Up 29.4/27.3 Attenuation (dB):Down/Up 35.0/11.6 How can this happen? Attenuation drops quite drastically from 47.5dB -->35.0dB. |

Hey guys,
Any of you notice torrenting with 4mb sucks? With 1 / 1.5mb last time I was able to get 80-150KBps, basically just around max speed. I could never get a good speed with 4MB. Only around 30KBps. I tested on the same torrents just one day apart. All well seeded. |

This is another con package by TMnut Shitmyx.
It's an indication that their Unifi couldn't handle the large bandwidth demand when it goes widely. |

All well seeded. Heck, even my surfing/download speed sometimes are capped @ around 20-25kBps on a 2Mbps line. See below: ![]() How come upload rate is better than download rate? I'm testing this with no other connection active. Maybe it is just me, but it suc*s. This post has been edited by coolmast3r: Sep 4 2010, 06:26 PM |

QUOTE(MX510 @ Sep 4 2010, 07:25 PM) So far so good Yeah. I'm well aware of that. Tha's why I subscribe VPN for 365 days! Don't u think getting 4 Mbps without VPN or Torrentflux u can download at high speed in all day :-) But still.. TM Seems to cap my speed at a certain time in a day. Even for surfing. Speedtest results are around 20-25kBps. |

QUOTE(coolmast3r @ Sep 4 2010, 08:59 PM) yup. even with vpn i still get that speed (20-25kBps) VPN has no use.well, this is weird. as far as i know, vpn remove all the throttling and capping whatsoever. or am i missing something here? TMnut is hard capping our speed to some 384kbps even when you're using a 4mbps line. I'm having difficulties even loading LYN which is hosted locally. So how can your VPN help when even local websites load like snail? |

Reporting in from TTDI
IP range = 175.145.x.x, 4Meg package DDL speeds are still good at 440-450 kBps, but given that i'm using premium for the big three (MU/RS/HF), I've never really faced capped speeds before, even when all this rubbish started, even for those file extensions people were talking about Surfing is pretty decent.... but i don't go to China's websites... All in all it's been pretty good except for those rough few months with miscapped speeds... |
