i just noticed that the Streamyx BlockBuster promotion has been taken off from the Streamyx.com website...

Our copper infrastructure is way too dated. The sight of the old pole shape switch near my house really displeases me each time I look at it when TM could upgrade them even in small towns such as Sitiawan and Taiping.I live in an affluent area in Ipoh city and yet they still can't replace those poles.

hi guys, wanna ask
earlier tm technician came to my house, btw i applied 4mb unipack
then he said he wanna test first if my house can support 4mb
after a few testing he said my house cannot pass for 4mb even 2mb as well
so, i wanna ask, is my Line Attenuation ok?

[attachmentid=1669744]
*
The official guideline is the loop must be <3km and your downstream attenuation must be below 40dB to qualify.

Anyway I'm guessing TM gives less priority to Unipack subscribers because they pay LESS and if your area has high Business/Regular/Old packages subscribers, most likely they'll decline your application because you are paying LESS monthyl which means LESS revenue for them.

Also since you'll be getting less priority, they'll also put your account on slower IP ranges.

Fair right?
Pay less = Get Less

Hi anyone,

After successfully upgraded to 4Mb package, although my download speed through Megaupload speedtest.net can reach 4xx kb/s speed, but my SNR margin dropped to 17 and sometimes 18. Why?

Is there anything I can do to solve the problem?
*
It's normal.

The increase of bandwidth is directly proportional to the transmit power strength thus the drop in SNR value.

If you've seen VDSL2 modem config screens, you'll notice very low SNR values even when you're just a few hundred metres away from the switch/DSLAM.

Last time I had big problem I call 8am sharp few times can't get through level 2 but any time later easy to get transferred to them. Well today 3 times all of them not successful trying to get through. The level 1 did try but nobody was picking the calls previous 2 times while this time the level 1 said he is getting line busy from level 2.
*
Same problem here now.

No longer getting premium ip ranges and seems like my account has been capped to a lower than 2mb one.

Modem shows sync at 4m but speed like retarded.

Looks like TMnut fakap with their user account database already.

You know they can do it and still say we gave you a 4mbps account which you see at your modem. But unknowingly they go and cap your account to something lower than 1m.

How's your speed?

I think I'm capped to less than 1mb now.
Speedtest to KL server only showing about 700kbps!

Go try download any service pack from microsoft, use a download manager. Put several concurrent connections into it, will see if you can get good speed.

I tested and able to get 3.x mb speed so I am still within 4mb package.
*
No this is entirely not as it seems.I have been consistently getting good speeds until now even with or without download managers.

Previously you were talking about account cap lowered to 1mb which would mean you won't be able to achieve higher speed with the microsoft download test using multiple connections.

If you are able to get 3.x mb speed then it is within the 4mb package range.
*
This only happened today when I returned from work.
My speed test results always shows around 3.4mbps even yesterday.

Hey guys, is your 4mbps being capped to a 512kbps at certain times of the day?

Mine is and it hasn't been solved yet. During afternoon and early morning my speed returns to a normal 4mbps line.

This is another con package by TMnut Shitmyx.

It's an indication that their Unifi couldn't handle the large bandwidth demand when it goes widely.

yup. even with vpn i still get that speed (20-25kBps) rclxub.gif
well, this is weird. as far as i know, vpn remove all the throttling and capping whatsoever.
or am i missing something here? shakehead.gif
*
VPN has no use.

TMnut is hard capping our speed to some 384kbps even when you're using a 4mbps line.

I'm having difficulties even loading LYN which is hosted locally.

So how can your VPN help when even local websites load like snail?

Ipoh where got Unifi yet leh?

I still see people with same ip range as me 175.xx in Penang and other places still enjoying near full speed access.Only my area affected..

Any other 4mbps users getting really bad connection for the past few days?

For a few months now I've been having pretty smooth 4mbps download speed. Now I am having packet loss all over the place and can barely get my email to load.

The problem seems to start quite close to me (as opposed to being with the international link). Usually when I ping the gateway it's 18ms every time. Now it looks like this - absolute crap:

Outright slow.I feel like using a 400kbps ADSL line for a 4mbps service.
That's just 1/10 of the subscribed speed.

That's coming from even TM's Cyberjaya server. How bad do you think it got?Even their own server is screwed!

just lodge a complain @ mcmc n cfm , a few days later tm sure will give you a phone call  wink.gif
*
What are you going to tell them if they're going to admit that your area is already oversubscribed and congested?
That'll allow them to give an excuse and prolong your wait till another 6 months time of wait hoping for things to improve.

Don't like the service?

2 options:

1) Downgrade your line to something slower and pay less.

2) Terminate the service and pay an early termination penalty of RM350.

You can't do anything much and this will be the explanation by TM to MCMC when you make your complains.Been there done that.
It's pretty much a "take it or leave it" indirect message to you.Just like telling you: "Well this is the best we can do for the time until we get more bandwidth to satisfy your needs. In the meantime you can wait then by all means wait, else end the service agreement and pay the penalty for early termination since you signed it from start.

There's no such thing as "service satisfaction guarantee" anymore in this country. They're slowly doing it all away gradually as we speak.
For what we know, Tesco, P1, TM, Maxis as well as DiGi have all started quietly to clean up those "satisfaction guarantee" grace period in their agreements. No refunds policy.

Those network upgrades can't take overnight. It will take months and that is if they are really doing it.

It's an excuse to continue overselling their services actually.
They know once consumers are tied for a certain period of time, all they have to do is continue to oversell their services and when congestion happens people can't opt out.

Take for example the 12 months contract subscribers sign up. If this excuse is true and they take 6 months or say a few more months to get it up right again, that means people will only get so much less than what they pay for.The 6 or more months would be "gaji buta" for TM as they continue to gain more subscribers while people have no choice but to bare with the upgrades.

What MCMC should DO here is to allow subscribers to terminate their contracts for time being or upgrade/downgrade their plans to suit their needs.
That way TM wouldn't think of these sort of tactics as a wrong move will take a hit at their revenues.

Half a year to bear with the slowdowns, so why should we continue to pay a full rate. Why not give us 50% discount for the half effort?

Well the requirement you speak off is slowly being forgotten and TM might be quietly removing it from their T&C.They are playing the "pretend to be stupid or don't know attitude" with you.
If you read their T&Cs carefully, it the trial period only applies to the first few days of installation and there's nothing that mention about commitment as long as you're using their service.

So they might set things right when they come and install and next month they start playing tricks on your line. What can you do? You didn't make any complains when they came and set it up at your house.

We need to ask them back the same question. If our service is not up to standard, then could we disconnect/terminate their crap/close to useless lines temporarily until things get better? No, right? Are they going to pay us any refunds?

I am so pissed with my 4mbps Streamyx with TM and might consider terminating my line with the RM350 early termination fee.Hardly get to use it. Last night down the whole night so basically my monthly subscription is just for a basic phone line?

You know SG999, not many people are free to visit TM Point on workdays.TM knows these thats why they know there're a bunch of idiots who are willing to pay them "gaji buta". We also know who has a part in their earnings. They know many do not have the time to attend to their phone/broadband service problems so it's a great potential to milk people like these.

Unless I'm jobless or have nothing to do then I'll pay them a good visit everyday at TM Point until they get things right.

My problem has been going on for almost 3 months but I don't see any improvement.I guess they are going to sit on it until my contract ends after a year while they continue to milk my money. WTF.

This is what I get with my 4mbps line at normal peak hours:

user posted image

WTF. TM already admitted that it's due to their poor congested network but can't give me a proper dateline when they can resolve it. It has nothing to do with my house line as everything is completely new including my internal house wiring and the recent replacement of copper cables running from ouside my house till the nearest switch which uses traditional pure copper(rocket shaped cylinder type)

* Tech yang tolong setup 4mbps screamyx, said kalau nak 4mbps kekal, once connected, speedtest 3.5-4mbps, jangan switch off modem, so IP kekal. Kalau switch off, dapat IP yang lain, jangan harap dapat 4mbps (in my case, dapat 384kbps - speed sebelum upgrade)

* Cust Serv yang I call to make report, said kalau encik pakai cable optic, mmg akan dapat laju yang stable.

"So, u want to subscribe to 4mpbs screamyx, please think thousand times"
*
Masalahnya saya tiada opsyen untuk pakai kabel optic di tempat kediaman saya. Lobang depan copper switch box pun terbiar buka menanti kereta tergolok ke dalam.

So guys got an update,

the technician came and checked everything to find out what was wrong with my speed. He said the ports were okay and that the modem was okay and all the wiring was in place. After all the options were played he came out with one conclusion...he said that a 4Mbps connection could not be supported in my area....

I was like how???

A few days before we were given a call from TM offices asking whether we wanted to upgrade to a 4mbps connection, naturally we said yes assuming that our house and neighborhood could support it...in the end after 1 week my connection was reduced from a brilliant 4.5mbps to a slower 1.6mbps...dammit Streamyx, got my hopes up and then shit on it.
*
You'll feel the slowdown once your neighbors start to jump in the 4mbps "bus ride" as well. This was what happened to my area. I started seeing TM vans visiting my neighbours one by one and things started to get slower.
Speed was excellent at first when I decided to subscribe it. Slowly it deteriorated to crawl and garbage.

All they did after that was a personal phone call from their technician at their data centre confirming the congestion.
I guess I'm not the only one complaining and my neighbors are swearing at TM as well.
