I bought plane tickets too. Haven't taken the bus since Firefly started flying from Sg to Ipoh.
Anyway, the bus company online sites are quite crappy. Don't wait... go straight to their office at Golden Mile etc. and buy there. This post has been edited by seantang: Nov 14 2010, 03:14 PM |

How soon in advance can you buy the tickets? I know in Larkin they only open up 1 month before.

Usually, 2 or 3 months before CNY. Sometimes the "official booking" is not available yet, so I just ask the staff to reserve me a seat when booking is available. You'd probably need to be a regular and the staff can at least remember you. Also helps if you're flexible on which 2 or 3 days & time you want to travel.

Hi! Does anyone recommend any place for residence near Wilkie Edge? If able, an estimation of the rental would help!
And any auditors here working in Singapore? |

Thanks for the tips. I will probably buy from Boon Lay Place as its closer to where I'm staying. Had horrible experience buying CNY ticket from Larkin, I hope Sg busses will be better (IE they don't stop a million times on their way to Penang).
Any bus companies to recommend/avoid? |

QUOTE(Nokia convert @ Nov 13 2010, 01:39 AM) i have been hearing many EP rejected cases recently. It seems like gov is seriously tightening control over the influx of ppl like us. Anyone working in HR can shed light on this? Is this true? Mean it will be harder for newcomer to apply for jobs in SG?I was lucky for mine to be approved last month. |

QUOTE(reign226 @ Nov 14 2010, 04:01 PM) Any bus companies to recommend/avoid? I used to take Alisan 18 seater buses to Ipoh. Backup was Grassland. I'd tend to stick to the bus companies whose drivers are Chinese uncles. They tend not to speed as much. |

I was travelling back from JB to KL yesterday night. those buses are crazy. I was driving at 130km/h and they will still zoom pass me. there was this Grassland and KKKL bus that pass by me while i was driving at 130km/h. i purposely step harder to make it to 140 when he try to pass but he still manage to get pass me. i personally ban this 2 company after what i encounter yesterday. Konsortium is on my banned list as well. their drivers are like barbarians and also drive recklessly. let his child sit on his thighs while he is driving the bus.

QUOTE(seantang @ Nov 12 2010, 10:42 PM) not sure what is the Singapore dream.1) work little but paid a lot? or 2) Toto Jackport! or 3) No more FT Pay is one thing, happy and satisfy with what you do is another. IMO, the price tag for happiness in SG is much higher compare to other country. Better to be happy with a good enough pay than very high pay but sour face everyday. It will be a bonus if you're happy and your pay is over 5 figures. Added on November 15, 2010, 9:45 am QUOTE(textreme1 @ Nov 14 2010, 02:18 AM) hi guys,i wanna get to know smething. But it will not according to this thread? last time with student past, you can only work not more than 16 hours/week. That's if your income is black and white on company payroll.how about the doing part time while studying for international students in SG,how is the pay, also? thnx guys Giving tuition on your own is another side of the story. And not all Malaysian companies give low bonus. What do you mean 'increment in Spore is not much'? Does the whole of Singapore get the same increment? Come on... put some thought and effort into your questions. |

Thats why most small companies tend to have ghost employees or list down their extended family aka uncle, aunts, grandma/grandpa as employees of the company without them actually working in the company itself. I know a couple of clients who practice this. This post has been edited by crapp0: Nov 15 2010, 03:39 PM |

Not by bike since my mom drove my car to JB to help me shift house. The road from JB to KL is so different than KL to Ipoh. the road is so straight and flat that I feel that it's normal to drive 180 on that stretch of road. But too bad I am driving a 13 years old proton wira, so I only drive a constant 120-130. Reach KL in 3 hours. Not bad.Added on November 15, 2010, 10:04 am told you so but you have to drive once to really get the picture. If you are riding a bike, try to ride during day time. Night time is "happy hour".
