you email them or you call?...room/house renting here is consider a hot market...unless it's a haunted house...else it's very easy for owner to rent it out...dont expect them to reply your email..i try ady last time..they will never reply you.

what you need to do is call~..if you engage agent..u can tell the agent your requirements on the room...then they will help you filter and nego..mine initially landlord ask fro 650..then my agent help me deal with 600~..

i search through the websites provided in this thread. owners rarely leave their contact no. or fake no. so i just send message through their ads, even pay for premium (smart websites).
i don't mind to get an agent if i am already working in singapore and getting money in SGD, but at the moment i still a freshie in malaysia earning ringgit saving in ringgit. deposit is super huge amount of $$, plus $200-300 agent fee is humongous......

ooo...then i advise you to save the money for deposit....sometime if really urgent..you might try borrow with your family member...

this is consider as an investment..if you really dont want to engage agent..then you really need a lot of luk to get a room wink.gif

everyone has already given their advise i think the only think we can say is good luk..

have you go thru the link we provide at 1st post?

Got a part-time job in JB, RM$1500, work max 3 hours/day. Interested?

...

...

Jobs : stay in JB, work in SG.

You can save at least that amount every month. To those factory workers from JB, this is a good deal. If your pay is low and you stay in SG, you might save much less than those factory worker every month.

The final assessments for Year of Assessment 2010 (ie. calendar year 2009) should be coming out now from the tax dept.

Tax rates are progressive lah. The more you earn, the more tax brackets you reach. And hence pay a higher effective/average tax rate.

You either get taxed as a tax resident or tax non-resident... you immigration status is irrelevant. IIRC, if you were in Singapore 182 days or more during the year, you get taxed as a tax resident.

A tax payable of $500 is damn good. Barely paying any tax at all.

Just rent any room (RM200~300) in JB and travel to SG for work. You can save more compare to renting a room in SG for S$650 (~RM1500).

One way traffic take about 1.5hour (more than enough) so round trip per working day is 3 hours.

Last time got people selling RM1 Nasi lemak at old JB custom, just buy a few pack and a pack of dunhill on the way to SG then sell it to your friend if you want to earn extra pocket money.

Most people know this. If you earn enough to rent a room or buy a HDB here then the choise is yours. You hardly see JB factory workers rent a room in SG but many of them can save more money than a technician renting a room in SG.

I just rented a room 4 days ago, with quite a nasty owner
Living with a pair of old retired couple, stays at home 24/7 and watch me do everything
Bathe only 2 times allowed, washing machine(manual kind) use twice a week maximum 4 pairs, not allowed to hang my clothes when I'm out, i need to be in to wait for my clothes to dry to collect them, must let them know what time I return home, and where I go etc etc...
Really regret for making such a rush decision and paid so much for agent fee!
I think sooner or later I might lose my professionalism and throw temper, haha

Plan to move out in 3 months time! haha, better not stay with owner imo.
Property prices in Sg is really, sigh. Weekend crowd in shopping mall, sigh. Lol.
