QUOTE(winner @ May 11 2010, 05:04 AM) Generally, most banks do not have minimum CL nowadays. If you like to buy things in installment, then you should go for Maybank or Public Bank. If you want a card that gives you the best rewards, then it's Alliance Bank as it has the highest cash back system. |

QUOTE(MilesAndMore @ May 11 2010, 04:54 PM) LOL ! Why even bother to use their credit card in the first place ? it kinda comes with my car loan. and sort of "no frills" card where u can leave the card unused for the whole year and they wont charge any annual fee. except this year just started the najib rm50.Depends on what you look for from your credit card. QUOTE(krazee350 @ May 11 2010, 06:38 PM) CIMB Petronas Mastercard does not give any points for any transactions.. only rebates.. I canceled mine already as I found it useless.. How was it useless ? It works more or less the same as their generic MasterCard, except that one gives you bonus points which you can later redeem for shopping vouchers, gifts etc. while the other one gives you instant cash rebate. The promotional rebates (10% off at ISETAN, 5% off at Guardian etc.) also apply to both card types.QUOTE(krazee350 @ May 11 2010, 06:38 PM) DA platinum minimum is 30k No longer so. The promotional rebates (10% off at ISETAN, 5% off at Guardian etc.) also apply to both card types. I was given only one card and no bonus points shown on the statement. True they said they were giving rebates but I don't really shop on daily basis at that place. So after a few months I canceled the card and switched to DA Mastercard. Since it works almost the same.No longer so. Someone here got a pre-approved DA Platinum and the credit limit is comparable to the low-end Gold card. My bad on the CL. I didn't read the rest of the post. Didn't realize they lower it a lot. I was given 30k when I initially applied last year. So I presumed they still maintain it that way. I was wrong I guess. Just wondering. I did call the CS regarding DA World Mastercard and VI CL and she said its about 150k. Is that true? This post has been edited by krazee350: May 11 2010, 07:23 PM |

The CIMB Bank World MasterCard and CIMB Bank VISA Infinite credit line starts from RM100,000. Direct Access's one should be lower than RM100,000. |

QUOTE(hye @ May 9 2010, 12:15 PM) No problem. Thanks again Hye.It is a good question to answer and it is not those questions that I dislike. Yes ... you are right about MBB and Alliance. Plus although MBB charges 0.5%, many has reported that their exchange rates is quite good and in some reported they are being charged lower than official forex rates. SCB VI rewards you 5x or 10x (on yr birthday month) for overseas spending and their CS are definitely better than your MBB CS quality. Cons for this card ... you cannot apply for it anymore even if you meet income requirements (I think it was RM180K) as they now issue it exclusively only to SCB PB customers only. Lack of support for EZ payments (if you like this) vs. MBB among others. Again ... every card has their plus and minus and I think you understand this. I think for your requirement ... best to go for Alliance. Not so high income requirements, 0% charges for intl spendings. Note your potential shortcomings ... CS so so only, Alliance not well known to give away super CL, gifts redemption (sigh!) and hope you are not fussy about cc payment. (There's always MEPS Interbank transfer) The next one would be MBB AMEX which give away 5x points but the admin fee for AMEX is the highest ... so I'll avoid it if I were you. * I always laugh at those who just started using cc when they say don't want to pay Interbank fees which are RM2. In early 2000, they are RM5. You want to save on RM2 but don't mind spending petrol and parking to go to the bank. Even walking to the bank is an opportunity fee ... I used to skip lunch just to pay my bills, now I do it @ night from the comfort of my home. Probably will try to apply for SG debit card first. Unless I cannot get any SG DC or CC then only consider to get Alliance CC. My income is less than 40k so all those platinum or higher end CCs are out of my reach I'm currently using Amex Gold CC and so far it serves me well except for the poor CS... since it has highest charges for overseas usage, I probably keep this as a backup card for use in Msia. Anyway, I'm one of the person who's not willing to pay for RM2 IBG fees. It all depends on how we organize our schedule & activities, we might save $ and time. I don't like to purposely spend my time and petrol just to pay bills. I have bank account for CC I'm using and I'll keep a certain amount of $$ to pay for my CC. The only thing I need to do is physically transfer money from 1 bank to another bank, which I only do so when it is convenient for me. QUOTE(winner @ May 9 2010, 01:01 PM) If you have a premier account from HSBC Malaysia, it will be easier to get a HSBC cc in Singapore if you work there. hehe, I'll need at least another 3-4 years to be "qualified" for HSBC Premier Account QUOTE(alexwsk @ May 9 2010, 03:19 PM) i guess you can always go for debit card then although I'm not too sure bout dc in SG Yes I'm planning to work in SG in near future. Hence I'm checking around to see if I'm able to apply my current "spending/payment pattern" in SG.i normally use US debit card while I'm in US, though nowadays i'm using my PBB cc coz it's just short term plus lazy to buy paypal funds unless you get paid in that country's currency, else no point using their cc/dc i assume you'll be working in SG for the near future Thanks for the suggestion. Debit Card is another option for me too Oh ya, kockroach from SG Working Life forum shares this link to me, HSBC Plat CC requirement for foreigners is only SGD40K... seems quite low if compared to Msia. https://www.apps.asiapacific.hsbc.com/1/2/s...HM&hidden.type= This post has been edited by Shinichi: May 12 2010, 02:38 AM |

Debit Card is another option for me too You definitely are eligible for a debit card. You really should consider DBS VISA debit card. It comes with no annual fee with free unlimited usage of DBS/POSB ATM and it can be used online. It also comes with a 0.3% cash back.Another good debit card in Singapore is the Citibank VISA debit card. It can be linked only to your checking account. The minimum balance fee is on the high site. If i'm not mistaken, you need to keep at least SG$2,000 to avoid being slapped by the account maintenance fee which is charged monthly. If you bank with Citibank or Standard Chartered, the MEPS IBG fee is only RM0.50/transfer. And if you have a HSBC Premier checking or HSBC PowerVantage checking account, MEPS IBG transfer is totally free ! |
